Want a break from long, dark, January days? Like to laugh a lot? Up for a culinary adventure? Then the 10th Annual Robert Burns Dinner may be for you. It is open to the public. The dinner, a lighthearted homage to Scottish national poet Robert Burns, is on Sunday, Jan. 29 from 3pm to 6pm at Timeless Destination, 77 Main Street in Wellsboro. Featured will be fun, fellowship, a cash bar, Scottish music, single-malt Scotch for the opening toast, appetizers, salad, haggis, (vegetarian haggis option available), tatties and neeps, Tipsy Laird, a Scottish dessert made with sponge cake, brandy, egg custard, raspberries, banana and double cream, and coffee or tea, all to commemorate Burns on the Sunday closest to his birth date, Jan. 25. Burns was born in 1759. Not only is he Scotland’s national poet but in 2009 was also voted “The Greatest Scot Ever.” Advanced reservations are required. No tickets will be sold at the door. Seating is limited to 40 guests. The cost is $40 per person. Any proceeds will be donated to the Wellsboro Area Food Pantry.
