October 2 - October 23

The Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center is pleased to announce that the Wellsboro Art Club’s long-awaited “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” exhibit will be on display from October 2 – October 23.  The exhibit will open with a free reception for the public on Sunday, October 2nd from 2-4PM with refreshments provided by the art club members. The Wellsboro Art Club first formed in 1948 with a group of local painters who wanted to work and learn together. Over the years, the group expanded to include crafts as well as fine arts. This exhibit will showcase the wide variety of interests and talents of the current members, from watercolors on used tea bags, to furniture painted and decorated with parts and pieces of old games, to charming dolls made from scraps of leftover fabric, ribbon, and fringe. The Wellsboro Art Club meets formally at 10:30AM on the first Thursday of each month in the Studio at the Gmeiner. They have informal studio time the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Thursday of each month from 10AM – noon.

Throughout their show, the art club members will be providing a series of free Saturday workshops for children in the Studio at the Gmeiner. A rock art workshop for children ages 6-12 led by Colleen Krise will be held at 10AM on Saturday, October 15th. A poured painting workshop for children ages 8 -12 led by Mary Wise will be held at 1PM on Saturday, October 15th. Two pressed flower workshops for children ages 6-16 led by Wanda Short will be held at 10Am and 1PM on Saturday, October 22nd. The classes are free and materials are provided.
