SUMMARY:ROOTSTOCK RACING – THE ENDLESS MOUNTAINS EXPEDITION RACE
DESCRIPTION:The Endless Mountains Adventure Race offers teams of 2-4 an opportunity to explore the PA Wilds by foot\, mountain bike\, and boat\, all the while navigating the course using map and compass skills. This year we are offering two divisions: the premier five-day expedition race\, which is part of the Adventure Race World Series\, and a 30-Hour “Lite” event that will introduce newer racers to the sport of adventure racing. The premier event covers 350 miles of wilderness terrain in the PA Wilds with shorter options for less experienced teams. \nAlong the way\, teams will encounter local history\, paddle scenic waterways\, climb and traverse rocky ridges and mountainsides\, trek and bike through some of our state’s most remote forests\, and encounter Pennsylvania’s abundant wildlife. Teams will work together to overcome the challenges that only expedition races can bring: being tested to their physical and mental limits with challenging overland navigation\, wild terrain\, and weather that can tame even the most hardened outdoors enthusiasts. Line up in front of the community center at 5pm and parade starts at 5:30pm sharp!! All pets and battery powered kids vehicles are welcome! SUMMARY:BARK PEELERS’ FESTIVAL
DESCRIPTION:The annual Bark Peelers’ Festival\, Honoring Pennsylvania’s Lumbering Heritage. will be held on Saturday July 1 and Sunday July 2\, 2023.  This year marks the 50th anniversary of the festival\, which started in 1973.  Bark Peelers’ treats thousands of visitors (3000 + in 2022) to lively special events\, contests\, and demonstrations that celebrate “woodhick” skills.  Unique food and craft vendors provide guests with ample shopping and culinary opportunities.  There is live music throughout the weekend\, crafts and games at the kid’s corner\, operating demonstrations of our steam-powered circular sawmill and birch still\, blacksmithing\, chainsaw carving\, camp cooking\, and door prizes.  Visitors are encouraged to compete in the greased pole\, log rolling\, crosscut saw\, and birling competitions to earn the title “Grand Champion Bark Peeler” and the associated cash prizes.  Admission costs $10 per-day for adults and $3 per-day for youth ages 3 to 11.  A 2-day pass is available for $18.00/person.
