SUMMARY:Red\, White & Blue Night Sky Tour
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the 4th of July by experiencing the splendor of the night sky at Cherry Springs State Park. Observe the constellations through a laser-guided tour conducted by park staff. \nLook for various objects that are sparkley\, red\, white\, and blue! Listen as we recount the legends and myths surrounding these mysterious patterns in the sky. Learn about park history\, current use\, and the importance of dark night skies. \nRegistration encouraged\, but not required. Should we need to cancel or modify a program due to weather\, etc.\, we will email all registered participants. Optional registration will open 45 days before the program. \nNote to those with noise sensitivities: while there will not be fireworks at this program\, you may be able to hear (but not see) fireworks from nearby township celebrations. \n—- \nWhile you may still observe on your own at the park without attending a program\, all visitors should arrive before dark. \nPrograms occur at Night Sky Public Viewing Area. Park in the gravel lot and follow the walkway next to the restrooms to the seating area. Since seating is limited\, you may want to bring a chair and/or blanket. \nWe ask that park visitors please leave their pets at home. Dim lighting\, large crowds and sensitive equipment do not create a pet-friendly environment. \nAll programs will be cancelled in the event of rain or thunder. \nCheck the Clear Sky Chart or Astrospheric for 48-hour forecasts of cloud cover and viewing conditions. \nPhoto courtesy of Universe Today.
