DESCRIPTION:Get to the park before sunset\, and take a safe look at the sun! \nDrop by for a moment to view the sun with special telescopes. As we approach the peak of the 11-year solar cycle\, the sun should have visible sunspots and prominences visible. Stop by and check it out! \nIn the event of inclement weather\, the solar program will be cancelled. \nIf the sun cooperates\, we may extend the duration of the program.

DESCRIPTION:Looking for something to do on Fridays this summer? You are in luck because we have announced our Outdoor Summer Concert Series bands and dates! We will be featuring professional groups like House of Hamill\, Autumn Sun\, Sweats\, and Joe Stanky and the Cadets as well as many local favorites like Chris Eckert\, Molly’s Boys Jug Band (which will be at 4:30 on July 21)\, Scott Turner’s Band of One\, Drowsy Maggie\, and Houston Baker. All performances will be on the Outdoor Stage located outside of the Deane Center. Best of all\, these concerts are FREE thanks to the community support and generosity of WCCA and Ward Manufacturing!! Make sure to bring your drinks and lawn chairs for an evening of great tunes and even better vibes!

SUMMARY:Night Sky Tour - Intro to the Summer Sky
DESCRIPTION:Wish you knew your way around the night sky? Experience the wonder of a starry night at Cherry Springs State Park through a laser-guided tour conducted by park staff. \nLearn how to find the Big Dipper and the North Star\, and learn a few key summer constellations. Great for beginners! Listen as we recount the legends and myths surrounding these mysterious patterns in the sky. Learn about park history\, current use\, and the importance of dark night skies. \nRegistration encouraged\, but not required. Should we need to cancel or modify a program due to weather\, etc.\, we will email all registered participants. Optional registration will open 45 days before the program. \nWhile you may still observe on your own at the park without attending a program\, all visitors should arrive before dark. \nPark programs occur on the Night Sky Public Viewing Area. Park in the gravel lot and follow the walkway next to the restrooms to the seating area. Since seating is limited\, you may want to bring a chair and/or blanket. \nWe ask that park visitors please leave their pets at home. DESCRIPTION:Look through park telescopes at some of the key features of the night sky – planets\, stars\, and more. Under the guidance of our volunteers and staff\, embark on an amazing telescope tour of the night sky. \nNo pre-registration required. Telescopes available on a first-come\, first-serve basis for the time listed. Availability is subject to staff/volunteer availability\, weather conditions\, and crowd size limitations. \n—- \nPark programs occur on the Night Sky Public Viewing Area. Park in the gravel lot and follow the walkway next to the restrooms to the seating area.
