SUMMARY:"Rustic Beauty" Exhibition by Jon Bond
DESCRIPTION:Renowned Berks County artist Jon Bond will present his “Rustic Beauty” exhibition at the Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center in Wellsboro\, PA\, July 8 – 30. The art exhibit in the main gallery will be open daily Tuesday through Sunday\, 12 – 6pm. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the artist and learn the stories behind the paintings during a reception on Saturday\, July 8\, 2-4pm. A free Smartphone audio tour will also be available to gallery visitors. \n“Rustic Beauty” will feature more than 35 original works including egg tempera\, oil\, watercolor\, and ink drawings. Finished works\, along with studies and derivative compositions\, capture the harsh rustic beauty of the northern Berks County landscape that surrounds Jon’s art studio. The art is a nod to the strong Pennsylvania German heritage of the area and conveys a silent sense of place where inanimate objects become neighbors\, farmers\, family\, and friends. \nMany items will be displayed for purchase. Unique gifts featuring reproductions of Jon’s art include zippered carryalls\, puzzles\, prints\, postcards\, greeting cards\, and more.

SUMMARY:An Eagle’s Eye View: Tioga County from Above Atrium exhibit by Wade Spencer
DESCRIPTION:The Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center is pleased to announce the Atrium exhibit for July\, “An Eagle’s Eye View: Tioga County from Above” by local photographer Wade Spencer. The exhibit will feature aerial landscape photos printed on metal\, which gives them a three-dimensional quality. This exhibit will open on Saturday\, July 8th with a reception from 2-4PM. Wade and the Main Gallery artist\, Jonathan Bond\, will talk about their art work at 3PM. Light refreshments will be provided by members of Art’s Friends. The reception is free and open to the public. \nA Tioga county native\, Wade Spencer is a Wellsboro-based photographer and videographer who enjoys capturing creative content in our beautiful region. While studying communication at Mansfield University in 1997\, Wade developed a parallel interest in photography\, specifically creating landscape and nature scenes on 35mm slide film. He has eagerly embraced digital technology as it developed. Wade continued his photographic journey and today utilizes the modern capabilities of drones and action cameras as well as traditional cameras. Wade states\, “I’ve always been captivated by both beautiful outdoor photography and flying. When it became possible to capture a literal birds eye view\, I knew I needed to invest in the equipment\, learn the regulations\, and develop that skill. Top-down photos are an angle that is rarely seen\, but show so much.”  Outside of content creation\, Wade enjoys hiking\, biking\, kayaking\, and spending time in nature. You can see more photographs by Wade on Instagram at: wade_spencer \nThis display is appropriate for all ages\, and there will be a scavenger hunt activity for children. The Gmeiner is located at 134 Main Street\, Wellsboro\, behind the Green Free Library. We are open from 12-6PM Tuesday through Sunday and admission to the gallery is always free.

There are limited funds available for scholarships and a 10% discount per child if multiple campers are from the same family. The deadline to apply is June 25\, 2023\, and enrollment fees are due July 3\, 2023. Scholarship applications are due June 25\, 2023 and selected recipients will be notified June 29\, 2023. Program acceptance is first come\, first serve as there are a limited number of seats available in each camp.  \nThe Lego Maniacs Camp from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Adventure Film Camp from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. will be held for five days\, Monday\, July 17 to Friday\, July 21. \nLego Maniacs Camp \nThis camp is absolutely fun\, cool and perfect for kids that love Legos. It is limited to 15 participants\, ages 6-8. Four days of the Lego Maniacs Camp are focused on Lego animation. Working in teams of three\, the campers will plan\, build and then film a stop motion animation using Lego mini figs and Lego brick sets. Once the animation is complete\, these young filmmakers will learn how to add sound\, titles\, and the all-important credits for their own Lego creations. One day of the camp will be spent building and programming robots using the Lego Mindstorms System. \nAdventure Film Camp \nPirates? Outer space? Zombies? In the Adventure Film Camp\, Box Of Light Digital Arts Studio will help kids\, ages 9-12\, make the most amazing adventure movie ever. They will learn how to frame a shot\, act for the camera\, structure a dramatic or comic scene\, edit video\, lay in sound effects\, and even create a simple musical score. The camp is limited to 12 participants. \nThe Digital Arts Camp from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Stop Action Animation Camp from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. will be held for five days\, Monday\, July 24 to Friday\, July 28. \nDigital Arts Camp \nLimited to 12 participants\, this camp will give kids\, ages 8-12 a taste of digital arts processes\, which could be their future career. There is a different challenge every day. Being covered are: Claymation\, green screen\, film\, digital books\, and robotics. Youth will sculpt\, build\, film and program. \nStop Action Animation Camp  \nOne of Box Of Light’s most popular classes\, Stop Action Animation\, limited to 12 participants ages 8-12\, is extremely “hands-on” mixing art\, film\, and computers. Move over Tim Burton\, there are new filmmakers on their way. Rand Whipple will show the campers how to make the inanimate world come to life as clay\, paper\, paint\, and even bottle tops get up and move across the landscape the kids create. They will make animated movies\, add sound and credits and\, in the end\, their films will live online on the studio’s website. \nFilm Screening Festival \nThe camps will end with a Film Screening Festival on Friday\, July 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The young filmmakers can invite their friends and families to this special screening on the last day of camp. They’ll walk the red carpet\, pose for the paparazzi and enjoy films from all campers at the Deane Center. \nFMI: \nCall the Deane Center at 570-724-6220 for more information.
