SUMMARY:2023 Regional Juried Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:The Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center is thrilled to announce the return of the Regional Juried Exhibit! Artists within 150 miles of The Gmeiner were invited to submit 2-dimensional works to be considered for inclusion in the show. Come see 45 artworks from 30 talented regional artists working in a variety of mediums. \nThe exhibit will open on Saturday\, December 2nd for Dickens of a Christmas. The artists’ reception will be held on Sunday\, December 3rd from 2-4PM. The reception is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided. The juror will speak at 3PM about the artists who were awarded prizes. \nThis exhibit will be on display until Saturday\, December 23rd.

SUMMARY:Christmas on Main Street Walking Tours
DESCRIPTION:Join our guides for a 1 hour walking tour of downtown Wellsboro. Learn more about the buildings\, businesses and people that made Wellsboro what it is today. Relive a piece of history\, as the guides share about life in the 1930’s and 40’s especially around Christmastime.\n\nThe historic walking tour of downtown Wellsboro will be offered for $5 per person over the age of 8. Groups are limited to 12 people. Spots can be reserved in advance by calling 1-856-371-5112\, or they may be purchased at the Penn Wells Hotel\, 62 Main Street Wellsboro\, during Christmas on Main Street Weekend. All tickets/spots must be paid for in cash and all proceeds go to Wellsboro Glass Historical Association\, for the preservation of the amazing story of Glass in Wellsboro. Tours will start in the lobby of the Penn Wells Hotel.\n\nNOTE​:  In the case of ice or heavy snow\, for the safety of everyone\, the tours will not take place.

SUMMARY:MESSIAH: A Community Sing
DESCRIPTION:Once again\, HG provides a glorious afternoon of music as soloists and audience members join to sing the Christmas portion of G.F. Handel’s triumphant oratorio. Dr. Peggy Dettwiler conducts the event this year with soloists from the Mansfield University music department. Three of this year’s soloists are recent graduates\, and one is currently a junior.\nThe string quartet is from State College\, and local musician Marian Miller is returning to the keyboard.\nAudience members are invited to sing the choruses. Scores are available upon entrance\, or you may bring your own. Of course\, you may also sit back and listen to your friends and neighbors present this incredible work.\nThe event began and continues as a fundraiser for the HG Children’s Choral Program. Fittingly\, when the MESSIAH was first presented in London 1743 it too was as a fundraiser for the newly opened Foundling Hospital\, a home for unwanted children.) The HG Treble Choir will present two selections before we commence MESSIAH. Please consider contributing to these young musicians
