SUMMARY:The Moving Wall
DESCRIPTION:The Moving Wall which honors over 58\,000 individuals who sacrificed their lives is coming to Tioga County\, PA\, in July.\n\n\n“We’re so excited to be able to bring this moving version of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial to the area. This is an opportunity for those unable to attend the full-size version in Washington\, D.C.\, to honor those who sacrificed their lives for us all\,” said Jessica Barron\, Project Coordinator of the upcoming July event. “This event is not possible without the support of area businesses and volunteers from all communities and branches of service.”\n\n\nOpening ceremonies will be held on Wednesday\, July 10\, 2024\, starting at 3:00 PM and people can view the Moving Wall 24 hours each day through closing ceremonies on Sunday\, July 14\, 2024\, at 5:00 PM.\n\n\nThe Moving Wall will depart the area on Monday\, July 15\, 2024.\n\n\n“The Moving Wall\,” which is a half-size replica of “The Wall\,” the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington\, DC. It was built in 1982\, to honor those who died in the Vietnam War\, “The Wall” now has carved into it the names of the 58\,300 American military personnel (eight of whom were women) who were direct casualties of the war\, including about 1300 who are still considered Missing In Action (MIA)\, but officially classified as “Dead\, body not recovered”.\n\n\nJohn\, Norris Shears\, Gerry Haver\, and other Vietnam veteran volunteers built “The Moving Wall.” It went on display for the first time in Tyler\, Texas in October of 1984 and has been touring the country for more than thirty years. Two structures of The Moving Wall now travel the USA from April through November\, spending about a week at each site.\n\n\nThe last time The Moving Wall was in Tioga County\, PA was back in June of 2017 where it was set up at the Island Park in Blossburg\, PA.\n\n\nTo learn more or make a donation visit TiogaCoMovingWall.com .

SUMMARY:“Abandoned World”
DESCRIPTION:The Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center is delighted to announce a the Main Gallery exhibit for July “Abandoned World” featuring photographs by Tricia Haegele. The exhibit will open on Saturday\, July 13th with a reception from 2-4PM. The reception is free and open to the public\, who are invited to come enjoy light refreshments and meet the artist. This exhibit will remain on display until Sunday\, August 4th. Tricia finds inspiration wandering the back roads\, looking for old relics\, architectural oddities\, and abandoned buildings then turning them into beautiful photographs. \nTricia was born and raised in Bucks County\, PA. She moved to Wellsboro with her husband in 2007 to start a family after making many trips to the area and falling in love with its beauty and peacefulness. Tricia’s interest in photography started young. When she was about 15\, her dad gave her his film camera as a Christmas present. He taught her how to use it\, and Tricia later took photography classes with a teacher who pushed her hard to develop her talent\, which motivated her further. She learned the ins and outs of developing and making her own prints\, which she loved.  After high school\, Tricia attended classes at Philadelphia Art Institute and Antonelli Photography School of Art to continue her artistic journey. When digital photography started to take over\, Tricia taught herself how to use the new technology. \nTricia’s father was an architectural millworker who restored old Philadelphia and Bucks County area homes\, historical buildings\, and businesses. She loved the beauty\, character\, and craftsmanship of these places\, and knew they wouldn’t exist forever because of modernization. With that melancholic thought in mind\, Tricia’s architectural photography soon focused on abandoned buildings. She feels a real connection to things that have been left behind\, lost and forgotten. This can be chilling and emotional\, but it goes hand in hand perfectly with how she views things through her lens. Tricia says\, “Documentation of the past is key to hold memories for things that will no longer exist eventually.” Come see these images that will make you think about the beauty that once was. \nYou can view more of Tricia’s photography on from her website TriciasTreasury.Shootproof.com or on Facebook at Tricia Haegele Photography\, \nThe Gmeiner is open from 12-6PM Tuesdays through Sundays and is located at 134 Main Street in Wellsboro behind the Green Free Library. Admission to the gallery is free.

SUMMARY:Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
DESCRIPTION:Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat was first written by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber at the request of a friend of Andrew’s father\, Colet Court School choirmaster Alan Doggett\, for the school’s 1968 end of term concert. \n“Sha la la\, Joseph\, you’re doing fine! You and your Dreamcoat\, ahead of your time!” One of the most enduring shows of all time\, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a reimagining of the Biblical story of Joseph\, his father Jacob\, eleven brothers and the coat of many colors. Told entirely through song with the help of a main character Narrator\, the musical follows preferred son Joseph. After being sold into slavery by his brothers\, he ingratiates himself with Egyptian noble Potiphar\, but ends up in jail after refusing the amorous advances of Potiphar’s wife. While imprisoned\, Joseph discovers his ability to interpret dreams\, and he soon finds himself in front of the mighty but troubled\, Elvis-inspired\, Pharaoh. Joseph’s solution to Egypt’s famine elevates him to Pharaoh’s right-hand man and reunites him with his family.\n\nTo purchase tickets online\, please visit https://hgp.booktix.com/dept/Perf/e/Joseph or call 570-724-2079.
