DESCRIPTION:The Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center is pleased to announce that the Main Gallery exhibit for October will be a full display of Arthur Gmeiner’s own work to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the opening of the center. Did you know that the building houses a permanent collection of more than 400 of Mr. Gmeiner’s oil paintings? The exhibit will open on Saturday\, October 12th with a reception from 2-4PM. The reception is free and open to the public\, who are invited to come enjoy light refreshments provided by members of the Wellsboro Art Club. This exhibit will remain on display until Sunday\, November 3rd.

This exhibit demonstrates the members’ wide variety of styles and mediums\, and this year’s challenge to “work small.” The pieces may be small in size\, but they are large in creativity. Set in 1968 and presented in all black and white\, it literally feels like the film has been brought to life and placed onstage. The play lovingly examines the movie itself\, the period in which it was made\, and the film’s undying influence on the horror genre.\nNight of the Living Dead™\, the film\, was produced at a time of incredible social and political upheaval. The film was met with controversy for featuring an African American protagonist and realistic horror images; and yet\, possibly the most controversial element to Night of The Living Dead™ was the ending… Everybody dies! Even the hero doesn’t survive.\nMore than just a recreation of the story\, the play celebrates the history and influence of the movie. Through a series of multiple endings\, the characters are all faced with different issues and challenges while desperately trying to survive the night. DESCRIPTION:Drowsy Maggie is a local fan favorite band featuring Dave Driskell on flute\, whistle\, and percussion\, Dan Shipe and Molly Cary on lead and harmony vocals\, with Shipe on guitar and banjo and Cary on guitar\, Daria Lin-Guelig on hammered dulcimer and concertina\, and Bruce Smith on upright bass. Drowsy Maggie performs a mix of Americana\, old-time\, folk\, bluegrass\, and Celtic instrumental and vocal music. \nDrowsy Maggie promises an enchanting evening of classic and new tunes with incredible harmonies and unique instrumentation. \nTickets are $20\, and we will have table seating\, which is the standard for our BYOB shows. There are General Admissions risers in the back of the theatre and the opportunity to rent a table in the middle and front of the theatre. A small table is an additional $5 and seats 2-4 people.
