SUMMARY:Commonwealth University-Mansfield to Present Annual Choral Concert
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Music at Commonwealth University-Mansfield will present their annual holiday choral concerts in Steadman Theatre on Saturday\, Dec. 7\, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday\, Dec. 8\, at 2:30 p.m. \nMore than 100 singers and instrumentalists in the five university choirs: Grace Notes\, Steadman Singers\, Festival Chorus\, Chamber Singers and Concert Choir will take part. Peggy Dettwiler\, producer and director\, has programmed music from historical classics to popular favorites that celebrate the seasons of winter\, Christmas and Hanukkah. The audience will enjoy singing familiar holiday carols with organ accompaniment by Kenneth Dake of New York City. The program will also feature two student conductors: Victoria Wormuth\, of Mansfield\, and Mayson Bryant\, of Etters. \nThe theme for the concerts\, “Grant Us Peace\,” provides the opportunity to present uplifting choral works with arrangements of familiar carols such as “Do You Hear What I Hear\,” “Still\, Still\, Still\,” selections from Handel’s “Messiah” and songs about bringing peace and love to the world in which we live. \nThe finale will feature singers encircling the auditorium performing Vaughan Williams’ “Nation Shall Not Lift Up a Sword Against Nation” with organ and percussion accompanying. \nTickets are $10 for adults and $5 to seniors\, students and children. SUMMARY:A Christmas Carol
DESCRIPTION:Focusing on Dickens’ powerful language\, humor and warmth\, this charming version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL simply and directly tells the story of the redemption of a human soul. The play follows the ever-powerful story of Scrooge\, a lonely miser\, who\, through the help of spirits and visions from his past\, present and future\, finds a second chance to become a loving\, generous human being. Adapted for a company of six actors\, accompanied by a fiddler\, the play requires a minimum of sets\, costumes and props. It begins with a child reading the story for the first time. As the scenes are played out behind him\, the child becomes totally caught up in the story and is finally invited by the other characters to enter the play as one of them. With traditional carols and English folk tunes creating the proper atmosphere\, the world of Scrooge\, Fezziwig and Tiny Tim comes alive\, igniting the holiday spirit for young and old alike.\nThis adaptation is just 1 hour in duration.\nPerformances at 10:30AM\, 1:30PM and 3:30PM are in the Coolidge Theatre.\nPerformances at 11AM\, 1PM\, 4 PM as well as Sunday at 2:30 are at the Warehouse Theatre.\nAll seats on Saturday are $25 (large group pricing available) and the Sunday performance is Pay What You Wish.\n\nTo purchase tickets\, visit https://hgp.booktix.com/
