SUMMARY:"Remembering Tioga" Art Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:The Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center will present an exhibit for February 2025\, “Remembering Tioga featuring watercolors by Kathy Pilling-Whitney.  This exhibit will remain on display for public exhibition until Sunday\, February 23rd. Throughout the month of February\, guests who come to the Gmeiner and fill out an entry form will have a chance to win a beautiful handmade quilt as well. \nThis exhibit is a collection of watercolor renderings of architecture from Tioga\, Pennsylvania. Kathy has painted 16 buildings\, some still standing and some lost to time. (All information and some of the images of now absent buildings in Tioga have come from a Facebook page called “Remembering Tioga\, Pennsylvania”\, administered by Debora Enderle Clark\, a native Tioga County resident and local historian extraordinaire.)  The purpose for the show is to make calendars and postcards to be sold during Old Home Day to raise money for the Tioga Grange. \nThe Gmeiner is open from 12 – 6PM Tuesdays through Sundays and is located at 134 Main Street in Wellsboro behind the Green Free Library. Admission to the gallery is free.

SUMMARY:Marriage Wisdom - Photography Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:The Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center is pleased to announce the Main Gallery exhibit for February 2025\, “Marriage Wisdom” featuring photographic portraits of local couples by Caleb Williams. The exhibit will open on Saturday\, February 1st with a reception from 2-4PM. The reception is free and open to the public\, who are invited to come enjoy light refreshments provided by the Friday Club and to meet the artists. \nThese images originally appeared in the Anniversary Couple of the Week contest hosted by the Wellsboro Gazette\, and many are accompanied by the couple’s advice for a long and happy marriage.  This exhibit will remain on display until Sunday\, February 23rd. SUMMARY:Mt Tom Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Do you consider yourself a winter warrior and pride yourself on your skills?  Take the Mt. Tom Challenge and put yourself to the test! \nBe part of the fun of this annual event where participants run\, climb or scramble up Mt. Tom’s 1\,100 vertical feet of trail to its summit. After catching their breath and taking in views of the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon and west nearly to Galeton\, they continue a short distance along the ridge before descending Mt. Tom using a forest road. \nThe challenge is to complete one lap up and down the mountain regardless of weather conditions. “This can be considered an\nadventure race\, a run or a climb\,” said Ben Stone\, one of the organizers. “It is for serious runners; not beginners. There are no prizes\,\nno swag bag or T-shirt. This is a no-frills event. It’s a great way to get out on the trails in winter.” \nParticipants can start a lap any time between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. \nDate: Sunday\, February 9\, 2025 – Start Time: 9:00 am.  The challenge is to complete at least one lap within two hours in whatever conditions are present. Not enough of a challenge? Then do as many as you can in that time! Register by 8:30am day of event. \nCost: FREE – no prizes\, just a great morning out on the trails.  Participants: Some type of traction device may be required based on trail conditions (screw-shoes\, yak-traks\, microspikes\, etc\, or even snowshoes!) Remember conditions will vary with elevation and some areas hold snow much longer than most. Ice can be the toughest condition and is common this time of year. The course WILL vary greatly based on weather\, snow and ice conditions. It’s winter. It’s part of what makes this a challenge!!!
