SUMMARY:HG Improv Club
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, April 26 from 6-7PM\, Hamilton-Gibson Productions will hold its first Improv Club meeting. The Club will be a place where anyone 13 and older can enjoy the fun of improv games and activities. \nImprov is short for improvisation and in theatre refers to unscripted scenes\, usually comedic in nature. Popular improv shows on screen include “Whose Line Is It Anyway” and “Game Changer\,” and live improv shows are becoming more and more common. Improv Club is not a show\, though watching other people take their turns is a big part of the fun. The club is for people who want to get more comfortable onstage in a low-stakes situation\, meet new friends\, and just be silly for an hour. \nImprov Club will be in the Warehouse Theatre Gallery at 3 Central Ave.\, Wellsboro. There is a $5 member fee at the door (kids get in free with a participating parent)\, and the fee will go toward future club activities. Club members will be asked what types of activities they are interested in and about scheduling. Pre-registration is appreciated. DESCRIPTION:Get your tickets and sit back for an evening of fantastic music as Rachel Sumner & Traveling Light take to the stage at the Deane Center on Friday\, May 2nd. \nFresh off a first-place win at the 2023 Thomas Point Beach Bluegrass Festival band competition\, Rachel Sumner & Traveling Light have been captivating audiences throughout the northeast. With songs as sweet and biting as the nectar and venom in her voice\, Sumner’s lyric-forward writing and penchant for snaking chord progressions demand something far beyond folk conventions\, highlighting the acrobatic range of her brilliant bandmates Kat Wallace (fiddle) and Mike Siegel (upright bass). \nSumner is no stranger to the stage. She spent her early career on the bluegrass circuit\, singing and writing with the genre-bending Boston group Twisted Pine. Since setting out on her own\, Sumner’s songs have been critically acclaimed\, winning the Lennon Award in the folk category of the 2021 John Lennon Songwriting Contest for her song “Radium Girls (Curie Eleison);” earning her a spot in the Kerrville New Folk Competition; and being chosen four consecutive years by WBUR/NPR as one of the top Massachusetts entries in the Tiny Desk Competition. \nRachel Sumner & Traveling Light released their debut LP in the summer of 2022 to critical acclaim. \n
