SUMMARY:Step Outdoors TRYathlon
DESCRIPTION:The Step Outdoors TRYathlon\, hosted at Hills Creek State Park\, is an introductory event that is great for the first-time participant while featuring a course that will also interest the seasoned athlete! \n2026 event will be similar to recent years – but while registration is still capped at 150\, we will return to in-person\, day-of registration! Advance registration is still highly recommended and appreciated. Event shirt guaranteed if registered by 9/1! \nABOUT THIS EVENT:\nAs the name implies\, the focus is on “trying” rather than winning\, on camaraderie rather than competition\, on personal challenge rather than place of finish. Assemble a team of two or three people. Run\, paddle\, and bike your way to the finish! Or\, if you feel energetic\, complete all three legs of the event as a solo participant. The landscape of the park makes this a great spectator event too! \nCOURSE DESCRIPTION:\nTraverse a mixture of park roads and trails around the perimeter of the lake for 5 kilometers. Paddle around temporary markers in the lake for approximately 1.75 miles. Bike on hard top and dirt roads in and around the park for 8.0 miles. All routes will remain the same as in recent years. The new event also includes a 5K stand-alone option that starts at the same time and location as the TRYathlon and follows the same course. \nPlease note\, check-in is open only from 8:30 – 9:30am on the event day. \n

SUMMARY:Fall Antique Show & Sawmill Run
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Head to the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum for one of fall’s most popular events! \nThe Fall Antique Show & Sawmill Run will be held on Saturday\, October 10th and Sunday\, October 11th – the weekend before Columbus/ Indigenous People’s Day Monday. Northern Pennsylvania typically reaches peak fall foliage conditions around this time so the forests surrounding the museum will (hopefully) be offering visitors rich and beautiful colors. \nThe Antique Show features multiple antique vendors selling their wares in the museum program room. Vendors always offer shoppers a little bit of everything\, including antique tools\, vintage clothing\, collectible coins\, glassware\, books\, and furniture. Vendors open 9am-5pm Saturday and 9am-3pm Sunday. \nFood and beverages will be available for purchase. There is no ATM on site so plan accordingly. \nOutside\, the museum grounds will come alive with historic trade demonstrations. On Saturday October 11th\, the steam-powered circular sawmill will be running from 10 AM to 3 PM. Other demonstrations will be happening over both days of the event at the birch still\, blacksmith shop\, lumber camp kitchen\, and the Eastern Loggers model railroad display. \n(Antique vendors interested in participating can call (814)435-2652 to reserve a space for the event.)[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
