DESCRIPTION:This event is open to all. Both modern and primitive camping available. Primitive dress is optional but is highly recommended if camping in the Primitive camp. A $25 camping registration fee is due at gate at time of sign in per camp.  Shooting Registration is $7.00 per person for all three days!\nThere is a 3 day black powder shoot for flintlocks\, percussion rifles\, smooth bores and black powder cartridge rifles. It includes a 3 target aggregate and re-entry targets all under a covered range. Matches available for Men\, Woman\, and Junior shooters. Other matches include woods walk shoot\, with hawk\, knife and fire start; hawk walk\, and primitive archery course open to all. Shooting registration fee is required to compete. Prizes will be awarded on Sunday afternoon when the range closes. As always\, we promise ALL junior shooters are awarded before the adults.\nWe ask all participants to follow these rules: NO PETS! If you require a service animal\, please contact us ASAP. Do not bring firewood! Firewood and water are provided for all campers.\nWe allow early set up on Wednesday August 16th at noon.\nContact us for directions! DESCRIPTION:The Perseids are coming! While the peak of the Perseid Meteor Shower is mid-August\, meteors can be observed any time from late July through the month of August.  As the Earth intersects with the orbit of dust particles left behind by the comet Swift-Tuttle in 1992\, visitors will flock to Cherry Springs State Park for a view of the spectacular results.  Watch the meteors streak across the sky as you listen to myths and stories surrounding historical beliefs about shooting stars and constellations. \n\nJoin us at Cherry Spring State Park to take in the splendor of a gold-rated International Dark Skies Park. Those interested in experiencing a more personalized\, small-group telescope tour of the night sky can join North Star Outdoor Guides for a private telescope tour of the night sky.  Participants in this program will be guaranteed ample telescope time without long waits; includes a discussion of the importance of dark skies\, a laser-guided tour of various constellations\, and telescope viewing.  Objects which may be viewed include planets\, nebulae\, red giants\, globular clusters\, galaxies\, and binary star systems. \nGroup Size: max. capacity 16\, not including children age 5 and under \nBring: Chairs\, bug spray\, and a small red flashlight. (ONLY RED LIGHTS ARE ALLOWED ON THE VIEWING FIELD.) \nDress: Dress warmly for cooler than anticipated night temperatures.  The field is at a higher elevation and exposed. \nRegistration Required – Registration will open 45 days before the program when possible and close at 3pm 2 days before the program (or when full). In August\, we may even bring out a large telescope similar to the one this photo! \nUnder the guidance of our volunteers and staff\, embark on an amazing telescope tour of the night sky. \nNo pre-registration required. Telescopes available on a first-come\, first-serve basis for the time listed. Availability is subject to staff/volunteer availability\, weather conditions\, and crowd size limitations. \n— \nPark programs occur on the Night Sky Public Viewing Area. Park in the gravel lot and follow the walkway next to the restrooms to the seating area. Since seating is limited\, you may want to bring a chair and/or blanket \nAll programs will be cancelled in the event of rain or thunder. \nTelescopes will not be available in the event of significant cloud-cover. Note that the large telescope requires the ability to go up and down a sturdy set of steps with a railing. \nWe ask that all visitors please leave pets at home. We also look forward to supporting his healing through time in the outdoors. SUMMARY:A Young Moon and the Late Summer Sky
DESCRIPTION:Join members of the Pennsylvania Wilds Astronomy Club (PaWildsAstro.org) for an evening observing session in Hills Creek State Park.  Observing will start at about 8:30 with a young moon in its crescent phase.  Once completely dark\, the telescopes will move to objects highlighting the late summer sky\, including clusters\, nebulas\, and double stars.  In the event of clouds\, a demonstration of night vision equipment will be substituted.  This event will not be held if raining. \nIf camping\, we recommend walking to the program. If you need to drive\, please arrive early and park in the field past the nature center. A small flashlight will be helpful if you can bring one (red is even better).

SUMMARY:Pontoon Tour of the Stevenson Reservoir
DESCRIPTION:Join park staff for a relaxing and informative tour around the lake\, as we cruise the shoreline of the George B. Stevenson Reservoir in search of wildlife. \nPontoon boat tours are scheduled to begin in June and continue until the end of September.  Tours are offered on most Sundays and other selected dates throughout the season\, with three tours offered on each date. \nThere is no fee for regular Sunday interpretive pontoon boat tours\, but DONATIONS ARE REQUESTED. \nGroup size is limited.  To reserve a seat\, please pre-register.  Pre-registration is not required but is strongly recommended. \nProgram time is 1 hour 15 minutes.  Life vests and binoculars will be provided.  After the passengers are fitted with life vests and seated on the boat\, the tour will last approximately one hour. \nIf you need an accommodation to participate in PA State Park activities due to a disability\, please contact the park you plan to visit.  With at least seven days’ notice\, interpreters for people who are deaf or hard of hearing are available for educational programs. \nFor more information about programs at Sinnemahoning State Park\, please call the park office at 814-647-8401.
