DESCRIPTION:Look through park telescopes at some of the hidden wonders of the night sky\, searching for double-stars and other features tucked into well-known constellations. In August\, we may even bring out a large telescope similar to the one this photo! \nUnder the guidance of our volunteers and staff\, embark on an amazing telescope tour of the night sky. \nNo pre-registration required. Telescopes available on a first-come\, first-serve basis for the time listed. Availability is subject to staff/volunteer availability\, weather conditions\, and crowd size limitations. \n— \nPark programs occur on the Night Sky Public Viewing Area. Park in the gravel lot and follow the walkway next to the restrooms to the seating area. Since seating is limited\, you may want to bring a chair and/or blanket \nAll programs will be cancelled in the event of rain or thunder. \nTelescopes will not be available in the event of significant cloud-cover. Note that the large telescope requires the ability to go up and down a sturdy set of steps with a railing. \nWe ask that all visitors please leave pets at home. SUMMARY:A Young Moon and the Late Summer Sky
DESCRIPTION:Join members of the Pennsylvania Wilds Astronomy Club (PaWildsAstro.org) for an evening observing session in Hills Creek State Park.  Observing will start at about 8:30 with a young moon in its crescent phase.  Once completely dark\, the telescopes will move to objects highlighting the late summer sky\, including clusters\, nebulas\, and double stars.  In the event of clouds\, a demonstration of night vision equipment will be substituted.  This event will not be held if raining. \nIf camping\, we recommend walking to the program. If you need to drive\, please arrive early and park in the field past the nature center. A small flashlight will be helpful if you can bring one (red is even better).

SUMMARY:Pontoon Tour of the Stevenson Reservoir
DESCRIPTION:Join park staff for a relaxing and informative tour around the lake\, as we cruise the shoreline of the George B. Stevenson Reservoir in search of wildlife. \nPontoon boat tours are scheduled to begin in June and continue until the end of September.  Tours are offered on most Sundays and other selected dates throughout the season\, with three tours offered on each date. \nThere is no fee for regular Sunday interpretive pontoon boat tours\, but DONATIONS ARE REQUESTED. \nGroup size is limited.  To reserve a seat\, please pre-register.  Pre-registration is not required but is strongly recommended. \nProgram time is 1 hour 15 minutes.  Life vests and binoculars will be provided.  After the passengers are fitted with life vests and seated on the boat\, the tour will last approximately one hour. \nIf you need an accommodation to participate in PA State Park activities due to a disability\, please contact the park you plan to visit.  With at least seven days’ notice\, interpreters for people who are deaf or hard of hearing are available for educational programs. \nFor more information about programs at Sinnemahoning State Park\, please call the park office at 814-647-8401.

SUMMARY:NESSMUK ROD AND GUN CLUB THIRD AND FINAL RUNNING DEER SHOOT
DESCRIPTION:This Sunday\, Nov. 19 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.\, rain or shine\, the Nessmuk Rod and Gun Club is hosting its third and final running deer shoot at the club’s outdoor range at 4646 Route 287\, 6.5 miles south of Wellsboro in Delmar Township. Club members and the public are invited to participate. \nThe shooter with the highest score in the last round this Sunday will win a frozen turkey. \nIf enough young people\, 17 and under participate\, a special round for youth will be held during this running deer shoot. The youth with the highest score will win a gift certificate from Cooper’s Sporting Goods in Mansfield or from Barbers Sporting Goods Store in Sabinsville. \nThe running deer paper target is fixed to a four-foot by three-foot wooden frame that is mounted on wheels on a cable. The target is pulled along the cable from left to right at 100 yards from the shooting area. \nOnly one shooter is allowed to be on the range per pass. Safety gear and eye and ear protection are required to participate. 



A sign-up will be held before each round of shooters. \nThe fee for youth 17 and under\, and for adults\, 18 and older\, is $2 per pass with a limit of two shots per pass. The fee will be split with 50 percent going to the shooter with the highest score per round and the other 50 percent to the club. \nFor more information\, call Ray Rowland at 1-607-857-4631.

DESCRIPTION:This night time program offers a chance to see nocturnal wildlife in a unique way. After a brief orientation we will travel to spots in and around the park to “call in” a gray fox using night lights and an electronic game call. Other species possibly encountered will be deer\, raccoons\, owls\, and coyotes. The program involves hiking into the woods discreetly and calling from several locations. Participants should be prepared to drive short distances\, wear dark colored and scent free clothing\, and to remain quiet coming and going. No flashlights are allowed. Program is not suitable for young children or those with difficulty walking at night in a woodland setting. Strict limit to 12 persons ages 10 and above
