SUMMARY:A Young Moon and the Late Summer Sky
DESCRIPTION:Join members of the Pennsylvania Wilds Astronomy Club (PaWildsAstro.org) for an evening observing session in Hills Creek State Park.  Observing will start at about 8:30 with a young moon in its crescent phase.  Once completely dark\, the telescopes will move to objects highlighting the late summer sky\, including clusters\, nebulas\, and double stars.  In the event of clouds\, a demonstration of night vision equipment will be substituted.  This event will not be held if raining. \nIf camping\, we recommend walking to the program. If you need to drive\, please arrive early and park in the field past the nature center. A small flashlight will be helpful if you can bring one (red is even better).

DESCRIPTION:Wish you knew your way around the night sky? Experience the wonder of a starry night at Cherry Springs State Park through a laser-guided tour conducted by park staff. This weekend’s program will focus on the constellation of Cygnus the Swan\, Saturn\, and the Milky Way. \nRegistration encouraged\, but not required. Should we need to cancel or modify a program due to weather\, etc.\, we will email all registered participants. Optional registration will open 45 days before the program. \n— \nWhile you may still observe on your own at the park without attending a program\, all visitors should arrive before dark. \nPark programs occur on the Night Sky Public Viewing Area. Park in the gravel lot and follow the walkway next to the restrooms to the seating area. Since seating is limited\, you may want to bring a chair and/or blanket. \nWe ask that park visitors please leave their pets at home. SUMMARY:Pontoon Tour of the Stevenson Reservoir
DESCRIPTION:Join park staff for a relaxing and informative tour around the lake\, as we cruise the shoreline of the George B. Stevenson Reservoir in search of wildlife. \nPontoon boat tours are scheduled to begin in June and continue until the end of September.  Tours are offered on most Sundays and other selected dates throughout the season\, with three tours offered on each date. \nThere is no fee for regular Sunday interpretive pontoon boat tours\, but DONATIONS ARE REQUESTED. \nGroup size is limited.  To reserve a seat\, please pre-register.  Pre-registration is not required but is strongly recommended. \nProgram time is 1 hour 15 minutes.  Life vests and binoculars will be provided.  After the passengers are fitted with life vests and seated on the boat\, the tour will last approximately one hour. \nIf you need an accommodation to participate in PA State Park activities due to a disability\, please contact the park you plan to visit.  With at least seven days’ notice\, interpreters for people who are deaf or hard of hearing are available for educational programs. \nFor more information about programs at Sinnemahoning State Park\, please call the park office at 814-647-8401.

SUMMARY:NESSMUK ROD AND GUN CLUB THIRD AND FINAL RUNNING DEER SHOOT
DESCRIPTION:This Sunday\, Nov. 19 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.\, rain or shine\, the Nessmuk Rod and Gun Club is hosting its third and final running deer shoot at the club’s outdoor range at 4646 Route 287\, 6.5 miles south of Wellsboro in Delmar Township. Club members and the public are invited to participate. \nThe shooter with the highest score in the last round this Sunday will win a frozen turkey. \nIf enough young people\, 17 and under participate\, a special round for youth will be held during this running deer shoot. The youth with the highest score will win a gift certificate from Cooper’s Sporting Goods in Mansfield or from Barbers Sporting Goods Store in Sabinsville. \nThe running deer paper target is fixed to a four-foot by three-foot wooden frame that is mounted on wheels on a cable. The target is pulled along the cable from left to right at 100 yards from the shooting area. \nOnly one shooter is allowed to be on the range per pass. Safety gear and eye and ear protection are required to participate. 



A sign-up will be held before each round of shooters. \nThe fee for youth 17 and under\, and for adults\, 18 and older\, is $2 per pass with a limit of two shots per pass. The fee will be split with 50 percent going to the shooter with the highest score per round and the other 50 percent to the club. \nFor more information\, call Ray Rowland at 1-607-857-4631.

DESCRIPTION:This night time program offers a chance to see nocturnal wildlife in a unique way. After a brief orientation we will travel to spots in and around the park to “call in” a gray fox using night lights and an electronic game call. Other species possibly encountered will be deer\, raccoons\, owls\, and coyotes. The program involves hiking into the woods discreetly and calling from several locations. Participants should be prepared to drive short distances\, wear dark colored and scent free clothing\, and to remain quiet coming and going. No flashlights are allowed. Program is not suitable for young children or those with difficulty walking at night in a woodland setting. Strict limit to 12 persons ages 10 and above

Lunch\, silent auction and raffles to follow.\nREGISTER HERE: https://forms.gle/om5fQkjF5wbXd8uH8\nCapped at 60 riders\, 4 groups of 15 riders will navigate the designated trail route through the mountainous scenery of the Tioga State Forest.\nGroups will be staggered in 20 minute increments\, each group led by a designated trail boss. Trail starts and ends at Ole Covered Wagon Tours and is anticipated to take 3-4 hours. At check-in\, each participant will be given the opportunity to play “horse poker” and riders will be given 5 brief rest stops to draw cards. Horse poker winnings will be 50/50.\nHorse camping facilities are available onsite – yet must be booked directly through CAMP @ OCWT.\n$50 registration fee\, includes t-shirt and lunch.\nNOTE: No stallions\, no alcohol on the trail and no unaccompanied minors. All youth (18 & under) participants must wear a helmet. Participants are required to sign a waiver/hold harmless agreement. HFH will proceed rain or shine.
