DESCRIPTION:The Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center is thrilled to announce the return of the Regional Juried Exhibit! Artists within 150 miles of The Gmeiner were invited to submit 2-dimensional works to be considered for inclusion in the show. Come see 45 artworks from 30 talented regional artists working in a variety of mediums. \nThe exhibit will open on Saturday\, December 2nd for Dickens of a Christmas. The artists’ reception will be held on Sunday\, December 3rd from 2-4PM. The reception is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided. The juror will speak at 3PM about the artists who were awarded prizes. \nThis exhibit will be on display until Saturday\, December 23rd.

Writer’s Open Mic Nights will be held on the first Tuesday of each month from September through December. Readings start at 7PM. Come early at 6:30 to sign up for a 10-minute slot if you plan to read. You can BYOB or grab a cup of coffee and some snacks\, and socialize a little with other writers and appreciative audience members. \nThis is a free event\, organized by Ashley Ensminger and Lyndsay Costley\, who usually share a little of what they have been working on as well. This group met for years at Conspiracy Coffee Company in Mansfield\, but moved to the Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center this year when the members realized that the majority of them live in Wellsboro. \nYou do not have to be a writer yourself to attend. It’s fine to just come to listen and enjoy! Those in the audience are asked not to record without permission.

Relive a piece of history\, as the guides share about life in the 1930’s and 40’s especially around Christmastime.\n\nThe historic walking tour of downtown Wellsboro will be offered for $5 per person over the age of 8. Groups are limited to 12 people. Spots can be reserved in advance by calling 1-856-371-5112\, or they may be purchased at the Penn Wells Hotel\, 62 Main Street Wellsboro\, during Christmas on Main Street Weekend. All tickets/spots must be paid for in cash and all proceeds go to Wellsboro Glass Historical Association\, for the preservation of the amazing story of Glass in Wellsboro. Tours will start in the lobby of the Penn Wells Hotel.\n\nNOTE​:  In the case of ice or heavy snow\, for the safety of everyone\, the tours will not take place.

DESCRIPTION:Our annual Westfield Parade of Lights\, sponsored and organized by Crary Hose\, will take place on Friday\, December 8th at 6:00pm. We had a great turnout last year and hope to expand on that this year! Santa will be taking time out of his busy schedule to make an appearance as well\, \nAll are encouraged to participate! Build a float for your local organization\, church\, sports team\, business\, club\, or even just for your family. Marching bands\, dancing groups\, or other acts are welcome as well. Decorate your unique vehicle and show it off to the town. Ride your horse or walk your pets. Fire and ambulance departments and apparatus are encouraged to attend. All are welcome to participate and celebrate the season! \nThis will not be a silent parade! Therefore music\, horns\, sirens etc. will be allowed. We also encourage participants to throw candy to the crowd. We ask that participants use caution\, be aware of your surroundings\, and take into account the noise and sidewalk activity when designing and planning your entry. \nRoute: Parade will begin at Electricord Manufacturing\, continue down Main Street / SR49 to Tops at the intersection of Main Street and Lincoln Street. \nTimeline: Lineup at 5:00pm in the Electricord parking lot. DESCRIPTION:Hamilton Gibson’s Women’s Project will ring in the holidays during “Christmas on Main Street” with “Holiday Shorts and Sweets\,” featuring holiday-themed one-acts\, seasonal musical numbers and some fun with holiday letters. You know what we mean by those letters\, right? Some are heartwarming\, some are downright gloomy\, others are braggy\, and some are poignant. This production is co-produced by Judith Sornberger and Yolie Canales.
