DESCRIPTION:The public is invited to attend a SENIOR EXPO AND POTTER COUNTY SENIOR CENTER COUNTY WIDE GET-TOGETHER to be held at the Coudersport Arboretum located at 201 S West Street\, Coudersport\, on Monday\, June 24th from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Rain date will be Tuesday\, June 25th. The SENIOR EXPO is sponsored by the Coudersport Arboretum Association and in collaboration with Potter County Human Services Area Agency on Aging. \nThis year the Potter County Senior Center’s County Wide Get-together will join the Senior Expo. Participants from the Coudersport\, Galeton\, Ulysses and Oswayo Valley Senior Centers will attend to visit the vendor displays\, enjoy morning refreshments and a hot dog lunch and participate in games and activities. \nVarious agencies and businesses will set up tables displaying their services and products that assist older adults. No political campaign set-ups will be featured. \nVendors will set up along the paths that meander through the beautiful memorial Arboretum displaying a variety of flowers\, trees and bushes on the historic C&PA railroad grounds. Stroll along the Honor Walk bricks inscribed in memory or tribute to loved ones and visit the Veteran’s Honor Wall while visiting vendor’s tables. \nThere are plenty of memorial benches throughout the Arboretum to relax and enjoy the day. Sign up for door prizes. Free morning refreshments and a hot dog lunch are sponsored by Rep. Martin Causer and Senator Cris Dush.

SUMMARY:2024 ARTIST IN RESIDENCE
DESCRIPTION:The Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center is thrilled to announce that Stacy Kelley will be returning for this summer’s artist-in-residency\, but will be offering classes for adults this time. “Learning to See Like an Artist: Building Your Visual Language Toolbox” is for adults who would like to improve their drawing skills. Accurate drawing skills are a core essential to communicating visually. For this 5-day residency students will focus on observing from life and learn how to transfer what they see in 3 dimensions to a 2-dimensional surface. They will be exposed to techniques employed by old master artists to create successful representational drawings. \nClasses will be held on 5 consecutive Wednesdays\, starting June 26 through July 24 (July 31 rain date) and will run from 11AM-4PM with a lunch break from 1- 2PM. All materials will be provided. \nRegistration is free and limited to 10 students. Students must be able to attend all five days\, since the lessons build on each other. DESCRIPTION:Experience the wonder of the night sky at Cherry Springs State Park through a laser-guided tour conducted by park staff. If conditions allow\, we’ll take a look through telescopes at some of the key features of the spring sky. \nHear legends and myths surrounding several familiar and not so familiar constellations. Learn about park history\, current use\, and the importance of dark night skies. \nTelescope availability is subject to staff/volunteer availability\, weather conditions\, and crowd size limitations. \nRegistration encouraged\, but not required. Should we need to cancel or modify a program due to weather\, etc.\, we will email all registered participants. You may still observe on your own at the park without attending a program. \nPets: No pets\, please. Trained service animals welcome. SUMMARY:Private Dark Sky Telescope Tour: Gods in the Sky
DESCRIPTION:Back in a time before television\, internet\, video games\, and graphic novels\, there was the splendor and drama of the night sky.  Gods followed their whims\, mortals struggled to please\, monsters were slain\, and heroes were born.  Explore the constellations and learn the Greek Mythology associated with them. \n\nJoin us at Cherry Spring State Park to take in the splendor of a gold-rated International Dark Skies Park. Those interested in experiencing a more personalized\, small-group telescope tour of the night sky can join North Star Outdoor Guides for a private telescope tour of the night sky.  Participants in this program will be guaranteed ample telescope time without long waits; includes a discussion of the importance of dark skies\, a laser-guided tour of various constellations\, and telescope viewing.  Objects which may be viewed include planets\, nebulae\, red giants\, globular clusters\, galaxies\, and binary star systems. \nGroup Size: max. capacity 16\, not including children age 5 and under \nBring: Chairs\, bug spray\, and a small red flashlight. (ONLY RED LIGHTS ARE ALLOWED ON THE VIEWING FIELD.) \nDress: Dress warmly for cooler than anticipated night temperatures.  The field is at higher elevation and exposed. \nRegistration Required – Registration will open 45 days prior to the program when possible and close at 3pm 2 days prior to the program (or when full). You may put your name on a waitlist if the program is full. \nFee: $25/person (includes a $3 non-refundable processing fee); Children (age 5 and under) Free \n*** Payment is required within 24 hrs of your registration\, or your registration will be removed.  Payment can be made by following the link provided in the email you will receive after registering *** \nThe program will be cancelled in the event of rain or overcast skies. \nWeather Policy: If weather or predicted overcast skies result in us having to cancel the program you will receive a refund minus the $3.00 non-refundable processing fee. (You will receive email notification of any decision to cancel the program in its entirety by 3:30 pm the day before the event)  We will do our best to utilize weather forecasts and the Cherry Springs Clear Dark Skies Chart (http://www.cleardarksky.com/c/ChrSprPkPAkey.html) to pre-determine if a program will be possible.  However\, due to the fickle nature of weather our best-made efforts may be thwarted\, and the sky may be overcast during your scheduled tour.  In the event\, your guide is unable to show you at least 3 deep sky objects you will receive a 50% refund. If preferred\, you can opt to receive a coupon\, valued at the fee you paid\, to be used towards a future program (good for two years) in lieu of a partial refund. \nParticipant Cancellations: If you choose to cancel your reservation before 3pm\, two days prior to the event you will be refunded minus the $3.00/participant\, non-refundable processing fee.  No refunds are given for no-shows or cancellations by the participant after 3pm\, two days prior to the event. \n— \nQuestions?
