DESCRIPTION:The popularity of the Middle Susquehanna Riverkeeper Association’s HERYN (Helping Engage our River’s Youth with Nature) kayaking and fishing program days and recent development of a Northern Tier Regional Director position has led to a new Northern Tier HERYN program opportunity to be held July 24 and 25 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Each day will offer the same program to 20 different participants divided into two 10-person groups each day. \nThe program will take place at the Sugarbush Pavilion of the Hills Creek State Park near Wellsboro.  The program will contain intro to kayaking and fishing instruction as well as a Plants Hike and Stream Study. \nParticipants should be between the ages of 10 and 15 and will be learning the fundamentals of kayaking and fishing\, as well as gaining a sense of environmental stewardship through watershed conservation. \nThe program is offered free to participants and all equipment is provided. Participants are required to pack their own lunch\, bring a refillable water bottle\, sunscreen and an extra change of clothing as well as appropriate footwear for watersports (ideally hard-soled water shoes). \nRegistration is capped at 20 participants per day and will be filled in a first-registered\, first-secured order using the following form. DESCRIPTION:The Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center is thrilled to announce that Stacy Kelley will be returning for this summer’s artist-in-residency\, but will be offering classes for adults this time. “Learning to See Like an Artist: Building Your Visual Language Toolbox” is for adults who would like to improve their drawing skills. Accurate drawing skills are a core essential to communicating visually. For this 5-day residency students will focus on observing from life and learn how to transfer what they see in 3 dimensions to a 2-dimensional surface. They will be exposed to techniques employed by old master artists to create successful representational drawings. \nClasses will be held on 5 consecutive Wednesdays\, starting June 26 through July 24 (July 31 rain date) and will run from 11AM-4PM with a lunch break from 1- 2PM. All materials will be provided. \nRegistration is free and limited to 10 students. Students must be able to attend all five days\, since the lessons build on each other. SUMMARY:HERYN (Helping Engage our River's Youth with Nature) kayaking and fishing program
DESCRIPTION:The popularity of the Middle Susquehanna Riverkeeper Association’s HERYN (Helping Engage our River’s Youth with Nature) kayaking and fishing program days and recent development of a Northern Tier Regional Director position has led to a new Northern Tier HERYN program opportunity to be held July 24 and 25 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Each day will offer the same program to 20 different participants divided into two 10-person groups each day. \nThe program will take place at the Sugarbush Pavilion of the Hills Creek State Park near Wellsboro.  The program will contain intro to kayaking and fishing instruction as well as a Plants Hike and Stream Study. \nParticipants should be between the ages of 10 and 15 and will be learning the fundamentals of kayaking and fishing\, as well as gaining a sense of environmental stewardship through watershed conservation. \nThe program is offered free to participants and all equipment is provided. Participants are required to pack their own lunch\, bring a refillable water bottle\, sunscreen and an extra change of clothing as well as appropriate footwear for watersports (ideally hard-soled water shoes). \nRegistration is capped at 20 participants per day and will be filled in a first-registered\, first-secured order using the following form. DESCRIPTION:Join us on Friday\, July 26 at 6 p.m.\, the free outdoor summer concert series that will feature Drowsy Maggie performing a mix of Americana\, old-time\, folk\, bluegrass and Celtic music\, both instrumental and vocal arrangements\, on the outdoor stage at the Deane Center for the Performing Arts at 104 Main Street in Wellsboro. The outdoor stage is located on the Central Avenue side of the building.\n\n\nAudience members are welcome to bring lawn chairs and sit on the grassy area in front of the outdoor stage or on Central Avenue\, which will be closed to traffic between Main Street and the Warehouse Theatre from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. this Friday.\n\n\nIf weather becomes an issue\, this free concert will be moved indoors into the Deane Center’s Coolidge Theatre. Donations are always appreciated.\n\n\nDrowsy Maggie is composed of five musicians. Danny Shipe and Molly Cary are both lead and harmony vocalists with Cary on guitar and Shipe on guitar and banjo. Daria Lin-Guelig plays hammered dulcimer and concertina.
