SUMMARY:Heartless at Victoria Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Heartless is a touring act playing each song as a true to live version of Ann Wilson of Heart’s performances. While there are some Heart Tribute bands touring the USA\, we are the ONLY tribute specifically to Ann Wilson of Heart. Heartless performs not only the classic Heart chart topping hits\, we also play Ann Wilson’ well known song covers (such as Led Zeppelin\, The Who and many more) as well as her original solo songs.\nAs eight seasoned musicians dedicate their musical journey to the words of Ann Wilson\, Heartless carries a special message to the audience bringing focus to “Music speaks” and “bringing community together”. With the unmatched musicianship of the 8 band members\, we provide an unforgettable and inspiring concert experience\, both by musical performance\, costumes\, and character delivery.\nJasmine White\, lead vocalist\, brings all the vocal flavors and personality of Ann Wilson alive. Jasmine delivers hit songs such as “Alone”\, “What About Love”\, “Straight On”\, “Magic Man”\, “Barracuda”\, and “Crazy on You” with ease while bringing the rough edges of her vocals to the Led Zeppelin covers songs like “Whole Lotta Love”\, “Stairway to Heaven”\, and “Kashmir” as delivered by Ann Wilson on decades of tours. Complete in character\, original stage worn attire from Ann Wilson\, and the signature soaring vocals\, Jasmine provides an unforgettable and undeniable “Ann Wilson” performance.

SUMMARY:Genesee Valley Pathfinders - GENESEE RIVER CHALLENGE
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the inaugural GENESEE RIVER CHALLENGE!\nHave you ever wanted to bicycle the entire length of the Nile of Western NY – from its headwaters in Gold Pennsylvania to its final resting point at Lake Ontario? Have you got a whole weekend in September to dedicate to your passion for endurance activities and our muddy mother river? Do you know someone that can give you and 3 of your closest friends a ride to Pennsylvania with your bikes? Then THIS is the ride for you!\nTHE CHALLENGE RULES:– Make the Grand Depart\, 9am at the Triple Divide marker– Cycle the entirety of the route within 32 hours (9pm Sunday)– Your journey must be self-supported– You can resupply water and food en-route (duh)– You can choose to ride in groups or teams if desired\, and helping fellow riders is encouraged.– Everyone who completes the challenge will receive a prize\, along with the best time.\nBased very loosely on the Triple Divide Trail Ride\, the route takes you along the punchy dirt climbs at its headwaters in PA to the Rochester Harbor Light at Charlotte Pier. This challenge is the ultimate way to see the entirety of the Genesee Valley from start to finish. Enjoy stumbling upon historic steel bridges\, scenic gorges and vistas\, the Mt. Morris Dam\, and the beautiful transition from rolling hills to marshy farm lands as you ride across New York State.\nI’ll be working out some final route details in the upcoming weeks\, along with the logistics of getting us and all of our stuff out to Pennsylvania – details to come.\nDISTANCE: 150milesELEVATION: 4\,600′ (net downhill the whole ride)ROUTE: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/44259448.GPX: https://drive.google.com/…/180BOkxUaZYKTh1uPawO…/view…\nTidbits:– This is a road/touring/gravel ride\, whatever those mean to you\n– Bring ample food/snacks/hydration for the first leg\, it’s very rural until you get to Wellsville\n– One strategy is to try to go steadily the entire 150 miles with minimal stopping\, relying mainly on prepacked food/water and frequent short stops to stretch and refuel. These people will travel light and not bring any camping gear\, and stand the best chance at a FKT. With an average speed of 10mph\, you could complete the challenge by roughly midnight Saturday.\n– Another strategy is to enjoy the duration of the challenge by not focusing on the 32 hour time limit because it’s a LOT of time\, and instead focus on seeing the most of the route. These people will likely camp overnight somewhere near Letchworth State Park\, which has ample opportunity to camp in and around it. If you can make the 80 miles to Letchworth state park on Saturday and get a good nights rest – the remaining 60 miles on Sunday should be a piece of cake if you leave camp by 9am the next morning.\n– There are two Lean to shelters of the Finger Lakes Trail on the East side of Letchworth State Park that can be camped in\, with picnic tables\, benches\, and fire pits/grills. The lands on that side can also be free-camped on\, so it’s a lot of open space to camp in for those looking to make the attempt over two days.

SUMMARY:MY DOG IS A SHOW OFF!
DESCRIPTION:Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries invites you and your best friend to show off! The 2nd annual Show fundraiser celebrates dogs of all breeds/mixes\, sizes\, ages and abilities. It’s scheduled for Saturday\, Sept. 21\, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Grand Canyon Veterinary Clinic’s grounds at 11765 Route 6\, Wellsboro (across from Weis).\n\n\n“We’re incredibly excited to bring back this fundraiser to benefit the lost\, abandoned and at-risk animals we assist through Second Chance\,” said Jim Howe\, Second Chance’s board president. “Last year was so much fun for both dogs and people.”\n\n\nThe Show Off is centered around a series of competitions for dogs and their owners\, with categories such as “Tiny Show-Offs\,” “Still-Got-It-Seniors\,” “Fetch-Crazed\,” and “Who You Calling Dog?” Four categories with three to five events each are held back-to-back throughout the day\, culminating with doggie fashion shows. Each event will be individually judged with prizes for the winner.\n\n\n\nRegistration is $20 before Sept. 1 or $25 after for a dog’s first event. Each additional event is $5\, up to four events total per dog. The first 50 entrants receive an event T-shirt and matching dog bandana\, both subject to availability. For more information on the competition and to register\, visit www.secondchanceas.org/show-off.\n\n\n\n“Though the canine competitions are the main draw of the day\, there will be so much more to do\, whether you own a dog or not\,” said Howe. “We’ll be grilling up hot dogs and offering pup cups. We already have local vendors committed\, as well as lots of fun activities for both kids and dogs to round out the day. This will really be an amazing chance for dogs and people who love dogs to gather\, all to help local animals in need.”\n\nFollow our Facebook page\, https://www.facebook.com/secondchancetiogapa or website at https://secondchanceas.org/show-off for more details and how to sign your dogs up for just-for-fun competitions and to “show off” their best struct\, tricks or costume. \n

SUMMARY:“Magnificent Monarchs”
DESCRIPTION:Coudersport Public Library will host “Magnificent Monarchs”\, a free program and Monarch butterfly tagging demonstration\, on Tuesday\, Sept. 17 at 6:30 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the endangered Monarch butterfly\, and its amazing migration.  The program is geared for upper elementary school age through adult participants. \nEmily Shosh\, educator for the Potter County Conservation District\, will discuss conservation efforts for Monarchs and other pollinators. Participants will also learn about citizen science opportunities\, including tagging\, and assist with tagging of live\, wild butterflies on-site! \nIn July 2022\, the International Union for Conservation of Nature listed the Monarch Butterfly as “Endangered”. There are multiple threats to monarch butterflies including habitat loss\, climate change and agricultural pesticide use that is reducing milkweed populations—a plant on which the monarch lays its eggs. Community scientists are encouraged to help track Monarchs.  These land stewards are also helping monarch populations by planting local and native species of milkweed at many preserves across North America. This event is an opportunity to be part of those efforts. \nRegistration is required. Call the Library at 814-274-9382\, stop in\, or email coudersportlibrary@gmail.com in advance of the program.
