DESCRIPTION:The festivities start at 5:30 p.m. with the Halloween parade followed by Trick or Treat from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  There will also be Trunk or Treat set up on Morris St.  . \nThe Blossburg Borough with have Hot Chocolate and a Family Photo Op. \nBring your carved pumpkin to the borough office between 5pm-6pm on the 31st to be displayed during trick or treating.  All participants will receive a goodie bag from the borough.  Pumpkins will be discarded at 8pm if not picked up. (battery operated lights will be provided.) \nThe Blossburg Fire Department will have trucks around town to light up any dark areas! \nFun for the entire family.  Don’t miss the ghoulish good time!

This free series of film viewings will take place at the Gmeiner on four consecutive Friday nights The films will be a combination of Gale Largey’s two documentaries about Kitty as well as selections from her career in film. \nFor the grand finale on Friday\, November 1st\, guests will be treated to a showing of “Skyway\,” a 1933 film about a cocky young pilot who\, at the urging of his girlfriend\, takes a nice\, “safe” job at the bank where her father is president. Since this is a shorter film\, there will also be some additional excerpts from other movies featuring Kitty Crawford.

The play lovingly examines the movie itself\, the period in which it was made\, and the film’s undying influence on the horror genre.\nNight of the Living Dead™\, the film\, was produced at a time of incredible social and political upheaval. The film was met with controversy for featuring an African American protagonist and realistic horror images; and yet\, possibly the most controversial element to Night of The Living Dead™ was the ending… Everybody dies! Even the hero doesn’t survive.\nMore than just a recreation of the story\, the play celebrates the history and influence of the movie. Through a series of multiple endings\, the characters are all faced with different issues and challenges while desperately trying to survive the night. Did you know that the first US post office for Blossburg first was called “Canal Port”?\n\nPhil Hesser will talk about the first projects to transport coal down the Tioga River and how investors in the Twin Tiers backed the new technologies of canals and railroads to make it happen. Join us on November 8 at 1:00 PM at the History Center to see how Tioga coal made its way to the North Atlantic and to California gold fields thanks to the 19th century transportation “moon shot” undertaken by the tech-savvy shareholders of the Tioga Navigation Co.\n\nPhil Hesser has focused on the history of Chesapeake Bay and its watershed following a career with an international NGO and at universities in two continents. He is the author of many articles and two books: What a River Says – Exploring the Blackwater River and Refuge (2014) and with co-author Charlie Ewers A Guide to Harriet Tubman’s Eastern Shore – The Old Home Is Not There (2021).
