SUMMARY:HG Improv Club
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, April 26 from 6-7PM\, Hamilton-Gibson Productions will hold its first Improv Club meeting. The Club will be a place where anyone 13 and older can enjoy the fun of improv games and activities. \nImprov is short for improvisation and in theatre refers to unscripted scenes\, usually comedic in nature. Popular improv shows on screen include “Whose Line Is It Anyway” and “Game Changer\,” and live improv shows are becoming more and more common. Improv Club is not a show\, though watching other people take their turns is a big part of the fun. The club is for people who want to get more comfortable onstage in a low-stakes situation\, meet new friends\, and just be silly for an hour. \nImprov Club will be in the Warehouse Theatre Gallery at 3 Central Ave.\, Wellsboro. There is a $5 member fee at the door (kids get in free with a participating parent)\, and the fee will go toward future club activities. Club members will be asked what types of activities they are interested in and about scheduling. Pre-registration is appreciated. SUMMARY:57th Annual Potter Tioga Maple Festival
DESCRIPTION:The 2025 Potter-Tioga Maple Fest will take place Friday and Saturday May 2nd & 3rd in the Coudersport Courthouse Square.  \n  \nBe part of the celebration this weekend filled with fun\, good food\, entertainment\, vendors and all the sweet maple products produced right here in north central Pennsylvania!  The festival starts Friday at 11am when maple producers gather in Courthouse Square for a day full of fun for all ages. Performances of music continue all weekend in the gazebo bringing great music to the festivities. \nThe fun continues with food\, vendors and informational exhibits all day Saturday.  There will be a basket raffle in the Maple Tent and a Car show featuring classic vehicles in the Consistory from 9 am to 3pm. Tour the Elliot Ness Museum and learn about Potter County’s most famous resident.  Come out for this weekend of family fun!

With songs as sweet and biting as the nectar and venom in her voice\, Sumner’s lyric-forward writing and penchant for snaking chord progressions demand something far beyond folk conventions\, highlighting the acrobatic range of her brilliant bandmates Kat Wallace (fiddle) and Mike Siegel (upright bass). \nSumner is no stranger to the stage. She spent her early career on the bluegrass circuit\, singing and writing with the genre-bending Boston group Twisted Pine. Since setting out on her own\, Sumner’s songs have been critically acclaimed\, winning the Lennon Award in the folk category of the 2021 John Lennon Songwriting Contest for her song “Radium Girls (Curie Eleison);” earning her a spot in the Kerrville New Folk Competition; and being chosen four consecutive years by WBUR/NPR as one of the top Massachusetts entries in the Tiny Desk Competition. \nRachel Sumner & Traveling Light released their debut LP in the summer of 2022 to critical acclaim. \n

DESCRIPTION:What is a “Woodhick”? \nA ‘woodhick’ is a colloquial term for someone who worked in the lumber industry during the late 19th and early 20th century.  Like the term’s ‘lumberjack’\, ‘woodcutter’\, or ‘logger\,’  Woodhick describes expert laborers who used axes\, saws\, spuds\, and a variety of other hand tools in their work harvesting lumber. \nStudent groups and homeschoolers will experience learning stations across the museum providing students with the opportunity to watch demonstrations\, try hands-on activities and talk with knowledgeable staff to discover what it was like to work in Pennsylvania’s forests. As part of the tournament and in partnership with Seneca Resources and a generous private donor\, awarded are three scholarships of $1\,500 each to local graduates within the Galeton\, Northern Tioga\, Southern Tioga\, and Wellsboro Area school districts. \nEnjoy time in the great outdoors and time spent with family and friends exploring Potter and Tioga counties.
