SUMMARY:A Christmas Carol
DESCRIPTION:Focusing on Dickens’ powerful language\, humor and warmth\, this charming version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL simply and directly tells the story of the redemption of a human soul. The play follows the ever-powerful story of Scrooge\, a lonely miser\, who\, through the help of spirits and visions from his past\, present and future\, finds a second chance to become a loving\, generous human being. Adapted for a company of six actors\, accompanied by a fiddler\, the play requires a minimum of sets\, costumes and props. It begins with a child reading the story for the first time. As the scenes are played out behind him\, the child becomes totally caught up in the story and is finally invited by the other characters to enter the play as one of them. With traditional carols and English folk tunes creating the proper atmosphere\, the world of Scrooge\, Fezziwig and Tiny Tim comes alive\, igniting the holiday spirit for young and old alike.\nThis adaptation is just 1 hour in duration.\nPerformances at 10:30AM\, 1:30PM and 3:30PM are in the Coolidge Theatre.\nPerformances at 11AM\, 1PM\, 4 PM as well as Sunday at 2:30 are at the Warehouse Theatre.\nAll seats on Saturday are $25 (large group pricing available) and the Sunday performance is Pay What You Wish.\n\nTo purchase tickets\, visit https://hgp.booktix.com/

DESCRIPTION:At 1 p.m. this coming Tuesday\, Dec. 10\, Cheryl Hein Walters of Mansfield will present “Harp Holiday” for the Golden Afternoons program in the lobby at the Deane Center for the Performing Arts at 104 Main Street in Wellsboro.\n\n\nThis free one-hour program is open to anyone 55 years of age or older.\n\n\nWalters will play the harp and sing holiday favorites. Those attending are invited to sing along and pat\, clap or stomp with gusto.\n\n\nCookies\, punch and holiday treats will be provided free.\n\n\nWalters taught elementary music in the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas for 11 years before moving to Mansfield in 2007.\n\n\nFor the past 16 years\, she has been teaching harp\, voice and piano at private studios in Wellsboro and in Mansfield and also has harp students at Commonwealth University\, Mansfield.\n\n\nWalters plays harp for dinner parties\, weddings\, funerals and special occasions and many Sundays at St. James Episcopal Church in Mansfield. DESCRIPTION:An original cabaret-style show\, “All is Shiny & Brite”\, presented by the Hamilton-Gibson Women’s Project will be performed December 12 – 14 in the Warehouse Theatre’s Gallery space in Wellsboro. \nThe show features Karin Knaus of Westfield as the lead character Betty Bristol\, a widow who is spending Christmas Eve in the year 1940 doing her evening radio show shift\, taking callers and choosing holiday favorites to play for them. The story is set on a snowy evening in Wellsboro\, and features local lore\, period radio commercials performed live\, and many talented local singers. \nThe script was created by local writer Lilace Guignard in collaboration with the show’s director\, Jessie Thompson\, and musical director Anne Acker. Gary Citro fills the gallery space with piano accompaniment throughout the show. Seating is cabaret-style with tables and chairs\, beverages and snacks will be available for purchase\, and advance tickets are recommended.  Saturday evening’s performance will be a special memorial tribute to long-time HG member Karen Usavage\, and those who knew her are encouraged to attend. \nThis production is sponsored by Citizens & Northern Bank\, and performances are December 12\, 13 & 14 at 7:30pm at 3 Central Ave. in Wellsboro. SUMMARY:Hamilton-Gibson Women's Project Holiday Cabaret\, "All is Shiny & Bright"
DESCRIPTION:An original cabaret-style show\, “All is Shiny & Brite”\, presented by the Hamilton-Gibson Women’s Project will be performed December 12 – 14 in the Warehouse Theatre’s Gallery space in Wellsboro. \nThe show features Karin Knaus of Westfield as the lead character Betty Bristol\, a widow who is spending Christmas Eve in the year 1940 doing her evening radio show shift\, taking callers and choosing holiday favorites to play for them. The story is set on a snowy evening in Wellsboro\, and features local lore\, period radio commercials performed live\, and many talented local singers. \nThe script was created by local writer Lilace Guignard in collaboration with the show’s director\, Jessie Thompson\, and musical director Anne Acker. Gary Citro fills the gallery space with piano accompaniment throughout the show. Seating is cabaret-style with tables and chairs\, beverages and snacks will be available for purchase\, and advance tickets are recommended.  Saturday evening’s performance will be a special memorial tribute to long-time HG member Karen Usavage\, and those who knew her are encouraged to attend. \nThis production is sponsored by Citizens & Northern Bank\, and performances are December 12\, 13 & 14 at 7:30pm at 3 Central Ave. in Wellsboro. DESCRIPTION:MESSIAH: A Community Sing Once again\, HG provides a glorious afternoon of music as soloists and audience members join to sing the Christmas portion of G.F. Handel’s triumphant Oratorio. Dr. Peggy Dettwiler conducts the event this year with soloists from the Mansfield University music department. Three of this year’s soloists are recent graduates\, and one is currently a junior. The string quartet is from State College\, and local musician Marian Miller is returning to the keyboard. Audience members are invited to sing the choruses. Scores are available upon entrance\, or you may bring your own. Of course\, you may also sit back and listen to your friends and neighbors present this incredible work. The event began and continues as a fundraiser for the HG Children’s Choral Program. Fittingly\, when the MESSIAH was first presented in London 1743 it too was as a fundraiser for the newly opened Foundling Hospital\, a home for unwanted children.) The HG Treble Choir will present two selections before we commence MESSIAH. Please consider contributing to these young musicians.
