SUMMARY:Hamilton-Gibson Women's Project Holiday Cabaret\, "All is Shiny & Bright"
DESCRIPTION:An original cabaret-style show\, “All is Shiny & Brite”\, presented by the Hamilton-Gibson Women’s Project will be performed December 12 – 14 in the Warehouse Theatre’s Gallery space in Wellsboro. \nThe show features Karin Knaus of Westfield as the lead character Betty Bristol\, a widow who is spending Christmas Eve in the year 1940 doing her evening radio show shift\, taking callers and choosing holiday favorites to play for them. The story is set on a snowy evening in Wellsboro\, and features local lore\, period radio commercials performed live\, and many talented local singers. \nThe script was created by local writer Lilace Guignard in collaboration with the show’s director\, Jessie Thompson\, and musical director Anne Acker. Gary Citro fills the gallery space with piano accompaniment throughout the show. Seating is cabaret-style with tables and chairs\, beverages and snacks will be available for purchase\, and advance tickets are recommended.  Saturday evening’s performance will be a special memorial tribute to long-time HG member Karen Usavage\, and those who knew her are encouraged to attend. \nThis production is sponsored by Citizens & Northern Bank\, and performances are December 12\, 13 & 14 at 7:30pm at 3 Central Ave. in Wellsboro. DESCRIPTION:MESSIAH: A Community Sing Once again\, HG provides a glorious afternoon of music as soloists and audience members join to sing the Christmas portion of G.F. Handel’s triumphant Oratorio. Dr. Peggy Dettwiler conducts the event this year with soloists from the Mansfield University music department. Three of this year’s soloists are recent graduates\, and one is currently a junior. The string quartet is from State College\, and local musician Marian Miller is returning to the keyboard. Audience members are invited to sing the choruses. Scores are available upon entrance\, or you may bring your own. Of course\, you may also sit back and listen to your friends and neighbors present this incredible work. The event began and continues as a fundraiser for the HG Children’s Choral Program. Fittingly\, when the MESSIAH was first presented in London 1743 it too was as a fundraiser for the newly opened Foundling Hospital\, a home for unwanted children.) The HG Treble Choir will present two selections before we commence MESSIAH. Please consider contributing to these young musicians. Celebrate the season!. \nThe Williamsport City Jazz Orchestra is based in Williamsport\, Pennsylvania\, and is made up of many of the area’s best jazz musicians. The group plays popular\, familiar\, obscure\, sentimental\, and exciting big band jazz tunes that are sure to appeal to all. The vision of the group is to give great musicians an opportunity to play jazz standards\, contemporary music and big band classics to enthusiastic audiences—and to nurture an appreciation of jazz music in the next generation of musicians and audiences. \nTickets are $20 and we will have table seating which is the standard for our BYOB shows. There are General Admissions risers located in the back of the theatre as well as the opportunity to rent a table located in the middle and front of the theatre. A small table is an additional $5 and seats 2-4 people. A large table is an additional $10 and seats 6-8 people. The only way to rent a table is to call our office at 570-724-6220. DESCRIPTION:The Hyner Mountain Snowmobile Club’s youth Pennsylvania snowmobile safety course will be conducted on Saturday\, January 4\, 2025 at the Hyner Mountain\nSnowmobile Club lodge\, which is located approximately 6 miles north of Haneyville\, PA and directly across Route 44 from Pat Reeders Tavern in Clinton\nCounty.\nParents are to accompany their children to registration so that the required forms may be completed. Registration begins at 7:30 AM; class starts promptly at 8:00AM and will end by 4:00 PM. \nClass participants qualify for their certificate by completing their workbooks and achieving a score of 80% or better on the final examination. Students receive\ntheir safety certificates at the end of the course. \nPre-registration is required. Adults are encouraged to participate.
