SUMMARY:Interactive Puppetry Workshops at the Warehouse Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Hamilton-Gibson Productions hosts visiting artist Ethan Rice for a day of interactive learning and play with puppets on Saturday June 8th at the Warehouse Theatre in Wellsboro. \nThe workshop is offered to participants of all ages. It will start with a morning session from 10am – 12pm focused on learning all about different kinds of puppets and how they’ve been used through the ages. Participants will also learn about how influences from people\, animals\, and the materials used to make the puppets can enhance their believability.   After a lunch break\, a session from 1pm-3pm will be interactive and hands-on\, offering the chance to try your own puppet and learn how to handle them to enhance storytelling\, character expression\, and other techniques that bring the puppets to life. \nInstructor Ethan Rice is a life-long puppeteer who studied theater at Centenary University. In addition to acting\, stage managing\, and makeup designing he played the character Trekkie Monster in Centenary Stage Company’s production of Avenue Q\, a musical with eleven puppet characters who play alongside the three human characters. This production renewed his passion for puppetry and began his journey in crafting his own puppets. \nThe Puppetry Workshop for All Ages\, Saturday June 8th at 10am and 1pm at The Warehouse Theater at 3 Central Ave in Wellsboro\, is $20 for a single session\, or $30 for both sessions. SUMMARY:Hamilton-Gibson Choirs' Spring Concert
DESCRIPTION:The CHOIR TOO (2nd through 4th grade singers) and the TREBLE CHOIR (5th through 8th grade singers) will present their Spring Concert on Sunday\, May 19th at the First Presbyterian Church in Wellsboro at 2:30pm. \nThe Treble Choir will be just returning from their spring tour to Maryland\, where they are set to explore much about the area\, including the history of Harriet Tubman’s Underground Railroad. A highlight of the Treble Choir’s musical program for the Spring Concert will include spirituals that were sung by American slaves for various purposes. The choir will share stories about the meanings of these songs\, and what they learned about their origins while on the trip. The Choir Too will also perform a variety of pieces including Bach’s popular Bist du Bie Mir. The Treble Choir is under the direction of HG’s Artistic Director\, Thomas Putnam\, and Choir Too welcomes Laureen Davis Wolgemuth as its new musical director.

DESCRIPTION:Hamilton-Gibson is presenting the play “Silent Sky” in May.  This play is about Henrietta Leavitt and her research at Harvard Observatory in the early 1900’s.  Discoveries by Leavitt included how the brightness variability of some stars could be used to measure their relative distance to earth.  This was key to future work on mapping the universe. \n  \nHamilton-Gibson Productions\, Commonwealth University-Mansfield\, and the Pennsylvania Wilds Astronomy Club will present a program celebrating Henrietta Leavitt’s contributions to astronomy.  The program will include: \n\nBrief lecture on Leavitt’s research\nScenes from the play by the actors\nSpring planetarium show\nTelescope observing in the parking lot afterward (weather permitting)\nSpace-themed snacks\n\n  \nThis is a free program\, but pre-registration is required.  To register\, use the Pennsylvania Wilds Astronomy Club website:  https://pawildsastro.org/events/

DESCRIPTION:Hamilton-Gibson Productions announces its after school Winter Theatre Arts Camps in Elkland and Wellsboro for kids in grades 3-9. The two camps will be presenting the musical “Junie B. Jones JR” based on the beloved books by Barbara Park. \nThe camps are free and open to students attending public or private schools or who are home schooled. \nRegistration forms will soon be available at schools throughout Tioga County or can be found now on the hamiltongibson.org website or can be obtained by calling the HG office at 570-724-2079 or emailing hamgib@gmail.com. \nThe first after school camp is for third through ninth graders who reside in the Northern Tioga School District. It will be held for 12 days at the Clark Wood Elementary School at 110 Addison Hill Road In Elkland beginning on Wednesday\, Jan. 17 and continuing on selected dates through Thursday\, Feb. 1 with Pay-What-You-Can performances for the public at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday\, Feb. 2 and 3. \nThe second after school camp is for third through ninth graders who reside in the Southern Tioga and Wellsboro Area school districts. It will be held for 14 days at the Deane Center at 104 Main Street in Wellsboro beginning on Wednesday\, Feb. 14 and continuing on selected days through Thursday\, March 7 with Pay-What-You-Can performances for the public at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday\, March 8 and 9. \nCampers will rehearse and perform “Junie B. Jones\,” a delightful adaptation of four of Barbara Park’s best-selling books created specifically for Broadway Junior performers. \nThe campers will be taught choreography\, how to project their voices when speaking and singing and how to create a character – all while having fun. Among the show’s many songs are “You Can Be My Friend\,” “Lucille Camille Chenille\,” “Show and Tell” and “Sheldon Potts’ Halftime Show.” \nJoin Junie B. on her first day of first grade\, where many changes are in store. Junie’s best friend Lucille has found new best friends and Junie B. makes friends with Herb\, the new kid at school. While in Mr. Scary’s class\, Junie has trouble reading the blackboard and may need glasses. Add in a friendly cafeteria lady\, an intense kickball tournament and a “Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal\,” and first grade has never been more exciting. \nFeaturing many lovable characters and fun-filled songs\, “Junie B. Jones JR” will capture the audience’s and performer’s hearts just as the books captivated an entire generation of students. \nCampers are expected to be at all scheduled rehearsals. The basic times are 3:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. \nThe Winter Theatre Arts Camps are offered at no cost to campers due to generous grants from the Deerfield Charitable Trust and UPMC Wellsboro.
