SUMMARY:Mt Tom Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Do you consider yourself a winter warrior and pride yourself on your skills?  Take the Mt. Tom Challenge and put yourself to the test! \nBe part of the fun of this annual event where participants run\, climb or scramble up Mt. Tom’s 1\,100 vertical feet of trail to its summit. After catching their breath and taking in views of the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon and west nearly to Galeton\, they continue a short distance along the ridge before descending Mt. Tom using a forest road. \nThe challenge is to complete one lap up and down the mountain regardless of weather conditions. “This can be considered an\nadventure race\, a run or a climb\,” said Ben Stone\, one of the organizers. “It is for serious runners; not beginners. There are no prizes\,\nno swag bag or T-shirt. This is a no-frills event. It’s a great way to get out on the trails in winter.” \nParticipants can start a lap any time between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. \nDate: Sunday\, February 9\, 2025 – Start Time: 9:00 am.  The challenge is to complete at least one lap within two hours in whatever conditions are present. Not enough of a challenge? Then do as many as you can in that time! Register by 8:30am day of event. \nCost: FREE – no prizes\, just a great morning out on the trails.  Participants: Some type of traction device may be required based on trail conditions (screw-shoes\, yak-traks\, microspikes\, etc\, or even snowshoes!) Remember conditions will vary with elevation and some areas hold snow much longer than most. Ice can be the toughest condition and is common this time of year. The course WILL vary greatly based on weather\, snow and ice conditions. It’s winter. It’s part of what makes this a challenge!!!

DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, November 9th\, there is a fun filled community event planned in Mansfield. This event\, sponsored by the American Cancer Society with Tioga Running Club\, is an opportunity to raise money and help cancer patients in Tioga County.\nTo get involved join us at Smythe Park in Mansfield on November 9th\, as we run and walk past cancer. \nChecking-in for the events begins at 8:30AM\, on November 9th\, at Smythe Park. \nThe registration day of fee for the 1 mile walk run is $15 with a maximum fee of $30 for immediate family members. The cost for the 5K run is $25.  All of the money raised at this event will go to eradicating cancer and helping patients in Tioga County. \nMany community members have donated gifts to make this event extra special. Everyone who participates in either of the walk/run events will receive a free small ice cream from Wellsboro Creamery. Top runners in the 5K event will win medals. Also remember\, all participants are encouraged to ramp up the fun by wearing costumes. The top costume participants will be awarded prizes. SUMMARY:Pine Creek Challenge
DESCRIPTION:100 mile\, 100 kilometer\, 50 mile and marathon distances\, and also a 100 mile relay option.\nThis endurance challenge is well-suited for the first-time ultra runner utilizing the Pine Creek Rail Trail.  Level\, 2% grade\, packed limestone surface.  Easy-to-follow\, post-race meal\, race day tees\, finisher mugs\, maintained aid stations\, 200 person limit.  Challenge yourself by seeing how far or how fast you can run.  It is a scenic trail along Pine Creek in northern Pennsylvania.  The Pine Creek Rail Trail stretches 62 miles from Wellsboro Junction to Jersey Shore and is repeatedly listed as one of the finest bike rides in the Northeast.  The out and back course uses 25 miles of the upper canyon section through Pine Creek Gorge.  We will have the start/finish at Asaph. The 100 miler runners will go 2 out and backs to Blackwell\, passing through the canyon 4 times. The 100k folks will go once to Blackwell and return. The 50 mile course will be ½ of the 100 mile course\, going once to Blackwell. SUMMARY:Kanyon Kids Trail Run
DESCRIPTION:Kanyon Kids Trail Race is a free event for kids 12 and under to come and meet friends\, make new ones\, and have some fun. Tyoga Running Club is offering this experience to give back to the community and to introduce young individuals into the rewarding sport of trail running. The course is a 5K loop with over 750ft of elevation gain which will make it interesting for all and challenging for some. The trail has two small stream crossings where you may or may not get your feet wet depending on the weather leading up to race day. So\, get off the kouch and take part in the adventure! \nRemember that this is a free event for kids to enjoy\, and what better way to help them enjoy it than by volunteering.  Race starts at 10:00 a.m. at 344 Kerr Rd.  Wellsboro\, PA.
