DESCRIPTION:An annual holiday celebration returns to historic downtown Wellsboro to once again kick off the holiday season! \nJoin the celebration on Saturday\, December 6th\, 2025\, for the 41st annual Dickens of a Christmas. Wellsboro’s Main Street and the surrounding side streets will be closed to traffic and become once again transformed into an early Victorian marketplace featuring all types of delectable wares for eating and drinking\, as well as delightful gift items for wearing or enjoying. \nBeginning at 9:00 a.m.\, the food and craft vendors\, strolling musicians and singers\, dancers\, and street corner thespians will spread up and down Main Street\, extending on to Waln and Crafton Street\, and a portion of Central Avenue. Performers and vendors will be appropriately costumed and decorated to create a Victorian atmosphere that fits so well with the Wellsboro Gas Lights. With the streets closed to traffic\, you have the freedom to stroll and enjoy the festivities. \nThroughout the weekend\, local businesses\, arts organizations\, and lodging partners put together a full menu of activity to offer visitors the perfect holiday destination to kick off their season of holiday celebration.

Several other local musical groups typically offer strolling performances throughout the day. Just stop where you happen to be and enjoy tidbits of drama or musical performances. \nMany of our local churches will host luncheons\, concerts\, tours or special services throughout the day. SUMMARY:Laurel Festival 10k Footrace and Two-Mile Fun Run/Walk
DESCRIPTION:The Laurel Festival 10K\, sponsored by First Citizens Community Bank\, will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday\, June 15 followed at 9:05 a.m. by the two-mile Fun Run/Walk. The 10K course has rolling hills\, paved and dirt surfaces\, and exciting Pennsylvania Grand Canyon country views.\n\n\nRegistration\, check in and packet pickup will be at Packer Park on Queen Street from 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. on race day. The entry fee for the 10K is $25 and for the Fun Run is $5. Race day registrants pay in cash or by check.\n\n\nThose who preregister for the 10K on or before next Saturday\, June 1 will receive a free event T-shirt presented by First Citizens Community Bank and be entered in the “Early Bird Drawing” with a chance to win $25 in Wellsboro Chamber Dollars to spend in area businesses.\n\n\nUPMC Wellsboro is sponsoring the awards. Medals\, certificates and other prizes will be presented to 10K male and female runners who place in the top three overall; finish first\, second or third in each age category (19 and under\, 20-29\, 30-39\, 40-49\, 50-59\, 60-69 and 70 and over) and to the oldest and youngest runners that finish first.\n\n\nEach Fun Run participant will receive a commemorative ribbon. Fun Run first place finishers will receive medals.\n\n\nTiming will be by Insta-Results. The Tioga County Amateur Radio Club will handle communications. DESCRIPTION:The Family Day and Children’s Health Fair with fun and information for all ages is next Saturday\, June 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on The Green in downtown Wellsboro. It will kick off the weeklong 2024 Pennsylvania State Laurel Festival being held June 8-16. \nOrganizing this special event are the Tioga County Partnership for Community Health\, Wellsboro Area Chamber of Commerce\, Wellsboro Foundation\, Inc.\, and UPMC Wellsboro Office of Pediatrics. \nEach youngster participating in Family Day will be given a free playground ball or a foam 8-inch football. \nInfants to 12-year-olds will be fitted with free bike helmets while supplies last. \nFamilies and individuals can visit 44 booths where there will be games to play for prizes and creative projects to do on-site and take home\, such as planting seeds\, making musical instruments\, and sun visors\, and others that will provide information for children’s health\, safety and well-being\, music programs and classes\, wildfire prevention\, water safety\, summer programs for youth and adults\, positive mental health\, substance abuse and crime prevention\, outdoor recreation opportunities\, transportation\, animal rescue information\, 4-H\, and much more. \nAmong the many free treasures at the booths will be T-shirts\, diapers\, baby supplies\, crayons\, coloring books\, sunglasses\, stickers\, Frisbees\, tooth brushes and floss\, pens\, pencils\, sticky notes\, bookmarks\, healthy snacks for children\, reusable bags\, drawstring bags\, stress balls\, notepads\, backpacks\, hacky sacks\, hair ties\, tattoos\, etc. \nFor more information about Laurel Festival events\, stop in at the Wellsboro Area Chamber of Commerce office at 114 Main Street in Wellsboro\, call 570-724-1926 or email info@wellsboropa.com.

SUMMARY:LAUREL FESTIVAL 10K
DESCRIPTION:The Laurel Festival 10K (6.21 miles) will start at 9 a.m. on Saturday\, June 17 at Packer Park on Queen Street in Wellsboro. The two-mile Fun Run/Walk will start at 9:05 a.m.\n\n\nThose who pre-register for the 10K on or before Thursday\, June 1 and pay the $25 entry fee will receive a free event T-shirt\, courtesy of First Citizens Community Bank. They will also be entered in the early bird drawing for a chance to win $25 in Wellsboro Chamber Dollars to spend in more than 40 area businesses. Those who do not pre-register will have the option to purchase a race T-shirt the day of the event.\n\n\nAge categories in the 10K for males and females are: 19 and under\, 20-29\, 30-39\, 40-49\, 50-59\, 60-69 and 70 and over. The course is challenging with both paved and dirt surfaces and rolling hills that provide views of Pennsylvania Grand Canyon country scenery.\n\n\nUPMC Wellsboro is sponsoring the 10K and Fun Run/Walk awards. For the 10K race\, large\, medium and small medals with ribbons imprinted with “2023 Laurel Festival 10K Footrace” will be awarded. Large medals will be presented to the first place overall male and female finishers; medium medals to the second and third place overall male and female finishers; and small medals to the oldest and to the youngest to cross the finish line first. The first\, second and third place finishers in each 10K age category will also receive medals.\n\n\nEach Fun Run participant will receive a commemorative ribbon; the first\, second and third place runners and overall youngest runner to cross the finish line in the Fun Run will each receive a small medal with a ribbon imprinted with “Laurel Festival Fun Run.”\n\n\nThe entry fee for the 10K is $25 and for the two-mile Fun Run/Walk is $5. Packet pick-up and registration for both the 10K and Fun Run will be from 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. on race day in Packer Park. Those who register that day must pay the entry fee in cash or by check. Prior to race day\, registrants can pay the entry fee with Visa or MasterCard.\n\n\nInsta-Results will provide timing for the race and the Tioga County Amateur Radio Club will handle communications.\n\n\nC&N and Weis Markets are providing free post-race refreshments to all runners.\n\n\nTo register online or to print out a form to register for the 10K and Fun Run\, go to the Wellsboro Area Chamber of Commerce website at www.wellsboropa.com. At the top of the page is the Laurel Festival 10K Foot Race banner with an orange Sign Up button.
