SUMMARY:Chili & Chowder with a Chance for Chocolate
DESCRIPTION:Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries is adding a new element – and a lot more chocolate – to its annual upcoming chili tasting event. \nChili & Chowder with a Chance for Chocolate is Saturday\, Feb. 10\, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. during Wellsboro’s Winter Celebration. Several businesses in downtown Wellsboro will concoct chili and/or chowder that can be sampled with the purchase of a tasting passport for $10. At each location\, tasters can enter to win various chocolate prizes. When done tasting\, participants can vote for their top three favorite dishes using their passports\, which can then be dropped off at any of the tasting sites or passport purchase locations. \n“We’re happy to present a new twist on our chili tasting event\, which is now ‘Chili & Chowder with a Chance for Chocolate\,’” said Jim Howe\, president of Second Chance’s board and one of the organization’s founders. “We wanted to add chowders for our friends who aren’t crazy about chili\, but still want to support local animals in need and get chances to win chocolate. This event has grown every year thanks to support from the Wellsboro Chamber of Commerce and its Winter Celebration\, as well as the fantastic local businesses that serve as tasting sites. We can’t wait to see what they cook up this year.” \nSigned on so far as tasting locations are Pop’s Culture Shoppe\, Main Street Creamery\, From My Shelf Books\, Kelly’s Canyon Country Crafts\, Los Agaves Taqueria\, Shabby Rue\, Wild Asaph Outfitters\, Seniors Creations\, Timeless Destination\, Oregon Hill Wineries\, Becks Bistro and Hillstone Farms. Additional sites will be announced on Second Chance’s Facebook as they are confirmed. \nTasting passports can be purchased for $10 each at the Wellsboro Chamber of Commerce\, 114 Main St.\, starting on Feb. 3\, or at Penn Oak Realty\, 65 Main St.\, on Feb.10 during the event. \nAll proceeds benefit local homeless\, abandoned\, and at-risk dogs and cats helped by Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries\, a 501c3 nonprofit serving the community for 22 years.
