SUMMARY:Hamilton-Gibson Choirs' Spring Concert
DESCRIPTION:The CHOIR TOO (2nd through 4th grade singers) and the TREBLE CHOIR (5th through 8th grade singers) will present their Spring Concert on Sunday\, May 19th at the First Presbyterian Church in Wellsboro at 2:30pm. \nThe Treble Choir will be just returning from their spring tour to Maryland\, where they are set to explore much about the area\, including the history of Harriet Tubman’s Underground Railroad. A highlight of the Treble Choir’s musical program for the Spring Concert will include spirituals that were sung by American slaves for various purposes. The choir will share stories about the meanings of these songs\, and what they learned about their origins while on the trip. The Choir Too will also perform a variety of pieces including Bach’s popular Bist du Bie Mir. The Treble Choir is under the direction of HG’s Artistic Director\, Thomas Putnam\, and Choir Too welcomes Laureen Davis Wolgemuth as its new musical director.

SUMMARY:"For Love of God and Country" Concert
DESCRIPTION:This Sunday\, Nov. 5 at 2:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church at 130 Main Street in Wellsboro\, the Wellsboro Women’s Chorus and the Wednesday Morning Musicales are presenting their concert “For Love of God and Country” to honor veterans and military men and women.\n\n\nA dessert social at the church will follow the concert. Both are open to the public.\n\n\nThe concert is in celebration of Veterans Day\, being observed on Saturday\, Nov. 11 and features 19 inspirational and patriotic songs. The Wellsboro Business & Professional Women is sponsoring it.\n\n\nThe 34-member Wellsboro Women’s Chorus under the direction of Suzanne Niles and Diana Frazier with accompaniment by Judy Smithgall is singing eleven songs.\n\n\nThe 32-member Wednesday Morning Musicales directed by Diana Frazier with accompaniment by Marian Miller is singing six songs.\n\n\nBoth choruses and the audience will open the concert singing “The Pledge of Allegiance” and close it by performing “A Tribute to the Armed Services.” During this song\, veterans and military personnel are asked to stand as their service branch is recognized.\n\n\nThose that have a picture of a special veteran in their lives are asked to hold that up during the last song.\n\n\nA free will offering is appreciated.
