DESCRIPTION:PRE-Registration is required. To register go to:  https://www.register-ed.com/events/view/200272 \nGoing to catch a star show at Cherry Springs? Why not catch a fish first! This Intro to Fly-Fishing class is capped at 20 participants. This 4hr program will provide participants with 2hrs of hands-on instruction of equipment assembly\, knot tying\, aquatic macroinvertebrates\, and casting. The remaining 2hrs provides participants with on-water fishing experience\, with guidance from PFBC staff and PFBC Fishing Skills Instructors. Fly fishing gear and instruction is provided for the duration of the program at no cost to participants! SUMMARY:Venus and the Mid Summer Sky
DESCRIPTION:Join members of the Pennsylvania Wilds Astronomy Club (PaWildsAstro.org) for an evening observing session in Hills Creek State Park.  Observing will start at about 8:30 with Venus in its large crescent phase.  Once completely dark\, the telescopes will move to objects highlighting the midsummer sky\, including clusters\, nebulas\, and double stars.  In the event of clouds\, a demonstration of night vision equipment will be substituted.  This event will not be held if raining. \nIf camping\, we recommend walking to the program. If you need to drive\, please arrive early and park in the field past the nature center. A small flashlight will be helpful if you can bring one (red is even better).

DESCRIPTION:Kayaking seems so easy. Well – it is\, but there’s more to it. This hands-on skills-based class will review basic to in-depth information you should know to get the most out of kayaking and do so safely and efficiently. \nAfter an introductory on-land session\, take to the water and hone your ability to maneuver your kayak and paddle with confidence. Learn the basics\, or take your skills to the next level. \nAfter lunch\, a challenge by choice option will be available for those interested in practicing self-rescue on the water. (or assisted rescue) \nRegister by July 2 by calling 570-724-4246. Spaces are very limited so that those attending can get the most out of the experience. This course is designed for adults\, but open to ages 12 and up. Those under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian (on site if not on the water) \nYou are welcome to bring your own kayak\, but limited kayaks are available for this program at no cost. Ask when registering. PFDs are available as well (and required at all times on the water). \nBring a lunch\, plenty of water\, sunscreen\, clothing that can get wet\, hat\, sunglasses\, glasses straps\, and your enthusiasm to learn more about kayaking. \nIf you are unable to attend this program but have interest in a future class\, let us know!
