SUMMARY:Tioga County Sheriff’s Night Out
DESCRIPTION:RESCHEDULED FROM 8/3/2024 to 9/14/2024 DUE TO FORECASTED WEATHER.  Sheriff’s Night Out is rescheduled  Saturday\, September 14th. The event will be held 5-9 PM at Ives Run Federal Park. It is a FREE event! It is specifically designed to engage children and build the relationships between our community and law enforcement. All law enforcement\, fire and rescue\, emergency medical personnel and first responders here in Tioga County are invited to participate in the event!\n\n\nSheriff Frank Levindoski would also like to invite community organizations or clubs\, church groups\, local non-profits and children’s organizations to participate in the event. Groups willing to plan and operate activities during the event including games\, face painting\, balloon animals or other such activities are encouraged to participate.\n\n\nSponsors and volunteers are needed in order to offer activities\, food and refreshments free of charge to the public. DESCRIPTION:Participants must be 8 to 14 years of age; they will visit a series of hands-on outdoor education stations. these include Fishing\, Trapping\, Turkey Calling\, Orienteering\, Shooting Sports\, Forestry\, Reptiles and Amphibians\, Wildlife Identification\, ATV Safety\, etc. \nFree:  Lunch\, Hat\, Shirt and door prizes. \nWin:  Wild boar hunts! One for a boy and one for a girl participant. (donated by Tioga Ranch). \nThis program is presented by The Pennsylvania Game Commission\, US Army Corps of Engineers\, PA Fish and Boat Commission\, DCNR and many other local agencies\, Sportsman’s clubs and individuals. \nNote:  When registering please provide participants name\, parent or guardian name\, Age of participant (must be 8 to 14 years of age)\, shirt size\, mailing address\, phone number\, and email address.\nAll participants must be accompanied by an adult. \nIF you are placed on the wait list please plan to attend. We have had many “no shows” in the past. SUMMARY:Walk in Penn's Woods 2023 - Meet the Ives Run Beavers
DESCRIPTION:Join us Sunday Oct 1\, 2023 at 2pm at the Ives Run Old Railroad Grade trail for the annual “Walk In Penn’s Woods.” This is a day set aside each year to get as many Pennsylvania neighbors as possible outside walking in the woods together.\nJim Mucci- Hills Creek Park Naturalist\, pest control expert\, and trapping educator- will interpret beaver activity in Crooked Creek. He will discuss their ecology\, life history\, and control measures when dams become a problem.\nMeet at the trailhead parking area below the ranger station. The walk will be several hundred easy feet of flat grade along the creek\, with more connecting trail for those interested in continuing on farther afterward. This would also be a great time to explore the trails and activities of Ives Run if you haven’t seen them before!\nThe Tioga County Woodland Owners will have light trail snacks available for participants.\nHope to see you there!
