DESCRIPTION:Join us for a family fun event where vendors will be on hand selling a variety of items like furniture\, glassware\, coins\, books\, clothing\, and collectibles. A selection of historic trades\, including the museum’s birch still\, will be demonstrated. A cooking demonstration and tasting featuring wild leeks will be in the museum’s Mess Hall from 11am-1pm both Saturday and Sunday.\nOn Saturday (April 20) only\, visitors will be able to watch the museum’s re-created 19th century steam-powered circular sawmill in operation.\nAccess to all museum exhibits and attractions is included in the price of admission to the show. Food and drink will be available on-site for purchase. No ATM on site so plan your visit accordingly. DESCRIPTION:Have you ever seen photos of the milky way with buildings\, trees\, or lakes in the foreground and thought you’d like to know how to do that? Join instructor Curt Weinhold at the museum to gain knowledge and learn about some of the essential tools for nightscape photographs. The class will cover the equipment you’ll need\, locations and times to take photos along with composition and photo editing to help you capture some great starry sky images. Participants are encouraged to bring their cameras to the class but are not required. Free with museum admission.

SUMMARY:Snow-mobility Weekend
DESCRIPTION:Visitors can ride their snowmobiles to the museum all weekend long! Although the museum is not normally accessible by snowmobile\, the Susquehannock State Forest will open a special route for snowmobilers from Thomson Road\, south of PA Route 6\, through DCNR property. Way-finding signs and instructions will be placed along the route. Riders will be required to cross Route 6 to enter the museum property\, so please use extreme caution.\nAs part of the weekend on Saturday\, Feb. 17 only a pancake breakfast will take place from 9:30-1pm. Breakfast is $10 for adults\, $6 for youth ages 4-11 years old. Children can listen to winter stories read by our museum educator and take part in a making a winter craft. A Starry Sky Photography Class is also taking place that day with renowned photographer Curt Weinhold starting at 1:30pm

SUMMARY:Fall Antique Show & Sawmill Run
DESCRIPTION:This year’s Fall Antique Show & Sawmill Run will be held on Saturday October 7th and Sunday October 8th\, RAIN OR SHINE.  Northern Pennsylvania typically reaches peak fall foliage conditions around this time so the forests surrounding the museum will (hopefully) be decked in rich and beautiful colors. \nThe Antique Show features multiple antique vendors that will be selling their wares in the museum program room. Our vendors have a little bit of everything\, including antique tools\, vintage clothing\, collectible coins\, glassware\, books\, and furniture. Vendors open 9am-5pm Saturday and 9am-3pm Sunday. \nFood and beverages will be available for purchase. No ATM on site so plan your visit accordingly. \nOutside\, the museum grounds will come alive with historic trade demonstrations. Saturday 10/7 will include demonstrations of our steam-powered circular sawmill from 10 AM to 3 PM. Other demonstrations will be happening over both days of the event at the birch still\, lumber camp kitchen\, blacksmith shop\, and the Eastern Loggers model railroad display. \nAntique vendors interested in participating can call (814)435-2652 to reserve a space for the event.

SUMMARY:BARK PEELERS’ FESTIVAL
DESCRIPTION:The annual Bark Peelers’ Festival\, Honoring Pennsylvania’s Lumbering Heritage. will be held on Saturday July 1 and Sunday July 2\, 2023.  This year marks the 50th anniversary of the festival\, which started in 1973.  Bark Peelers’ treats thousands of visitors (3000 + in 2022) to lively special events\, contests\, and demonstrations that celebrate “woodhick” skills.  Unique food and craft vendors provide guests with ample shopping and culinary opportunities.  There is live music throughout the weekend\, crafts and games at the kid’s corner\, operating demonstrations of our steam-powered circular sawmill and birch still\, blacksmithing\, chainsaw carving\, camp cooking\, and door prizes.  Visitors are encouraged to compete in the greased pole\, log rolling\, crosscut saw\, and birling competitions to earn the title “Grand Champion Bark Peeler” and the associated cash prizes.  Admission costs $10 per-day for adults and $3 per-day for youth ages 3 to 11.  A 2-day pass is available for $18.00/person.
