DESCRIPTION:Looking for a unique experience for your child this summer? The Pennsylvania Lumber Museum is excited to present its hands-on History Camp. Children ages 10-18 will spend two full-days immersing themselves in the rough and tumble lifestyle of a 19-century woodhick.\nOn day one\, campers will try activities like using a crosscut saw\, rolling a log\, peeling bark\, and cooking over a fire. They’ll play games like horseshoes\, seed spitting\, and model log raft racing. On the second day\, participants will demonstrate their new-found skills at the Galeton Rotary’s Cherry Springs State Park Woodsmen Show.\nAdvanced Registration is required. SUMMARY:BARK PEELERS’ FESTIVAL
DESCRIPTION:The annual Bark Peelers’ Festival\, Honoring Pennsylvania’s Lumbering Heritage. will be held on Saturday July 1 and Sunday July 2\, 2023.  This year marks the 50th anniversary of the festival\, which started in 1973.  Bark Peelers’ treats thousands of visitors (3000 + in 2022) to lively special events\, contests\, and demonstrations that celebrate “woodhick” skills.  Unique food and craft vendors provide guests with ample shopping and culinary opportunities.  There is live music throughout the weekend\, crafts and games at the kid’s corner\, operating demonstrations of our steam-powered circular sawmill and birch still\, blacksmithing\, chainsaw carving\, camp cooking\, and door prizes.  Visitors are encouraged to compete in the greased pole\, log rolling\, crosscut saw\, and birling competitions to earn the title “Grand Champion Bark Peeler” and the associated cash prizes.  Admission costs $10 per-day for adults and $3 per-day for youth ages 3 to 11.  A 2-day pass is available for $18.00/person.
