One of Gilbert & Sullivan’s most popular operettas, “Yeoman of the Guard” takes to the stage of Straughn Auditorium on the campus of Commonwealth University-Mansfield for three performances, November 7-9, 2025.

Music lovers will not want to miss this opportunity to enjoy this classic piece. Critics considered the score to be one of Sullivan’s finest, including its overture, which is in sonata form, rather than being written as a sequential potpourri of tunes from the opera, as in most of the other Gilbert and Sullivan overtures.  First performed in London in 1888, this classic operetta has also proved popular in America in the 20th century, where it was played on Broadway by various companies since 1915.
