Regional Fiber Arts – Art Exhibition

The Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center hosts a “Regional Fiber Arts” exhibition in the Main Gallery this fall opening on Saturday, September 20th, from 2–4 PM, and on display through Sunday, October 12th, concluding at 6 PM. This exhibit features works from over 20 local artists living within a 150-mile radius. Artists have created contemporary pieces using a variety of fiber mediums and techniques, such as quilting, slow-stitching, weaving, felting, embroidering, crocheting, knitting, tatting, and working with unusual materials.
The exhibit showcases both established and emerging talents from the area, representing a wide spectrum of creativity, materials, and unique perspectives. Submitted pieces have been selected, offering a diverse and engaging representation of contemporary fiber art.
Visitors will experience a mesmerizing display of textile creations, where they can wander among striking tapestries, sculptural woven forms, and intricately embroidered panels crafted by local artists. This vibrant landscape celebrates inventive weaving techniques—from traditional loom work to experimental mixed-media approaches—and offers an exuberant interplay of texture, color, and form. Each piece stands as living art, a testament to the creative ingenuity and passion of the region’s fiber artists.
We look forward to celebrating the creativity and talent of fiber artists from across the region. Join us for this exciting event and discover the beauty and innovation of contemporary fiber art.
The Gmeiner is open 12–6 PM Tuesdays through Sundays and is located at 134 Main Street in Wellsboro behind the Green Free Library. Admission to the gallery is free.
