Jessie Thompson, who directed Anne of Green Gables, is directing this summer’s large musical, with help from Thomas Putnam as musical director and Taylor Nickerson as choreographer. Gary Citro on the piano will be joined by more musicians in the pit. Annie premiered on Broadway in 1977 when Jessie was about Annie’s age. She says, “My love for musicals was well underway, and needless to say I had the vinyl and sang along to ‘Tomorrow’ at the top of my lungs, much to my family’s dismay. I loved how tough and vulnerable Annie was, and how, despite difficult beginnings, she was confident.”
