Wellsboro Community Concert Series – The Mari Black Trio

The Wellsboro Community Concert Association’s 78th season opens Saturday, Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m. with the first of seven concerts being given in the Coolidge Theatre at 104 Main Street in Wellsboro. The season runs from September to December of 2026 and from February to April of 2027.
Featured on Sept. 12 will be The Mari Black Trio, a Boston, Massachusetts-based group, playing and singing Celtic Spirit, traditional and dance-driven music of the Celtic regions: Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Brittany in France, Cornwall in England, the Isle of Man and more. Award-winning Mari Black is a multi-stylist master fiddler who excels at dance-driven music.
Mari holds an incredible list of titles, including Glenfiddich Fiddle Champion of Scotland, two-time U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Champion, and two-time Maritime Fiddle Champion of Canada. She has traveled the world and has been featured at Celtic Highland Games, Argentine tango festivals, folk festivals, jazz concert series and world-famous classical conference venues, including Carnegie Hall. Alongside her powerhouse partners forming her trio, they blend deep Celtic traditions with a fresh, modern pulse, moving from the foot-stomping energy of fast-paced reels and jigs that get feet tapping and the crowd moving, to the quiet, heartfelt stories told through traditional tunes including Step-Dancers. It is sure to be a night of fantastic entertainment for all.
This is the first concert of the WCCA seven concert 78th season.
